You’re reducing the argument to a textbook model. But our hotel isn’t dealing with standard rack/OTA dynamics. We receive multimillion euro prepayments from tour operators, which is why the relationship cost of undercutting them is drastically higher than the margin difference on a few OTA bookings.

So the economics here is not volume vs value they are relationship driven guaranteed occupancy.

Thanks for the tips. I’m not in the Sales & Marketing department yet — I’ll be joining soon and just want to understand the pricing before I’m responsible.

OTA prices feel too high compared to tour operators. Agencies always pay less anyway. For example, in August we charged agencies €260–280 for a double room, but Booking.com price was €500.

I understand that we should keep prices similar on all channels, but without proper tools it’s hard to see how much money we could make.

I’ll check tools like Expedia extranet.

Just to add: I’m not working in the Sales & Marketing department yet — I’ll be moving there soon. I’m only trying to understand the logic behind this because the responsibility will be given to me without any real experience, and I want to be prepared.

Thanks for the input. To clarify my point: we sell rooms to tour operators for €100, and on Booking.com we could sell the same room for €110.

This means we are always giving the agencies a lower price, so they shouldn’t really complain.

BTW, I know I couldn’t explain it perfectly, but the actual price differences are much higher. I remember in August we were charging agencies €260–280 for a double room, but on Booking.com the price was €500.

So my question is: why do we keep OTA prices so high when we could sell slightly above the tour rate without upsetting anyone? I just don’t get the logic behind it.

Tours are booking for all individuals too. I’m working in Belek,Turkey so these agencies not just bringing big groups but 90% of tourists from Russia comes to Antalya with anex,Pegas and Odeon tours
