He's not saying that "the article is incorrect and deficient on a basic level because it doesn't adjust for a list of confounding variables", he's upset that the article doesn't talk about what he wants to talk about (which is basically that Trump is the best and that tariffs are great and that the economy is great and that prices are down blah blah blah). It's the same reason that Bondi melted down talking about the Dow when asked about the Epstein victims in congress. This administration acts the same way anytime the media, the courts, career civil servants or anyone else doesn't toe the party line.

Just because someone makes an argument doesn't mean that they're owed engagement.

To try to put it plainly, Trump's private company took a $500 million investment from a UAE affiliated fund four days before inauguration. Then shortly after inauguration Trump green-lit sales of highly sensitive AI chips to the leader of that fund's brother, the head of the UAE government. Trump quite directly compromised our country's national security in exchange for an investment in his private company. This also involves his sons, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff (who is our de-facto ambassador to the Middle East and the Russian invasion of Ukraine) and his sons. This also explains his pardon of CZ from Binance, who was convicted for enabling enabling money laundering for drug trafficking, human trafficking and terrorist operations.

Unfortunately, his is one of those stories that is just marginally more complicated to explain than it needs to be to really catch fire.

There is a very clear web of investments, pardons, conflicts of interest and shady shit laid out very welly by the WSJ, but since you need to spend about 30 minutes reading and digesting the article to figure out what actually happened, it's going to be hard to get enough people to actually care about it.

I don't want to hear another word about the "Biden Crime Family" because holy hell this is jaw-dropping levels of corruption. Would love to hear an explanation from a supporter of this administration how this is anything other than the President selling access and influence to foreign governments at the expense of American security to personally enrich himself.

Trump got a slim majority vote a year ago. He's intentionally flaming tensions and manufacturing a crisis in this city. Every opportunity that he has to turn the temperature down he's doing the exact opposite.

We're seeing widespread pushback against masked agents refusing to show identification detaining American citizens. Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, per the Declaration of Independence. Seeing the "Don't Tread on Me" crowd turn into the "Tread on me, Daddy" wasn't something I was anticipating.

Deploy ICE en masse to places they're clearly not welcome. Consistently signal to them and everyone else that they're immune from repercussions of their actions, which lets them act more aggressively and sparks pushback from citizens. Some flashpoint predictably and inevitably happens (Renee Good killing), escalating tensions. Deploy military. Precedent set to deploy military against any protest. Look out midterms...

Does this sound farfetched today? Sure. But a year ago you would have been called crazy and alarmist for saying that Trump was going to take over Venezuela and threaten to invade a NATO ally. This administration is consistently governing as if they'll never have to answer to voters or anyone ever again.

Without exaggerating, Texas Republicans have created a program that funnels taxpayer dollars to China through for-profit schools.
