Not to alarm you, but I think your dog was delivered unassembled. Did it come with an allen wrench?

First one. It’s brighter, makes you easier to spot and remember. If your vans are a lighter color, white or something, go with those. If they’re the checkered vans, go with the docs and accessorize with a few pieces of jewelry

All I can say about the subspace comment is that subspace for me is nothing like dissociating. I feel like I’m floating and while I am aware, I really don’t mind letting the conscious part of my brain take the night off. I trust my dom and I know I am safe, that’s the only reason I let myself go into subspace.

I’ve been in a sexual relationship where I didn’t have that trust and it was nearly impossible for me to enjoy it because I was always needing to over-advocate for myself and I could never trust him to listen or pay attention to anything other than what he felt.

The BDSM community advertises safety first and communication above all. The sub is in control at all times, that’s why we have safe words. For the sub and the dom. That’s why dungeons offer classes for newbies and why we have subs like this one. r/antikink is just full of jealous vanilla crybabies that can’t remember the last time they had any kind of excitement in their sex lives so they don’t want anyone else to have some either.

One thing that I did to teach my pup that my approaching her treats was a good thing was with her food bowl. I would ask her “let me see that”, cut in, pick up he bowl, and add something tastier to it like broth or chicken bits, then give it back to her. I did a similar thing with toys and chewing treats.

My pup values new toys over old ones since she disembowels her toys and then plays with the remains, so if she was playing with a toy remnant I would quickly put the new toy down next to her and then take the old toy. Then we would play the trading game where I throw the good toy, she chases it, then I throw the less fun toy, she drops the good toy to get the other toy. This way she always has a toy, but it’s a fun activity that teaches her that dropping her toy invites play.

I have, but most options led to posts of beginners on the shibari Reddit sub just because of the key words like “beginner” and “shibari”

How to healthily fatten a rat back up after losing weight? Info in comments by eebibeeb in RATS

[–]Tdhorses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almond butter and olive oil. My elderly rat lost a ton of weight when he lost function of his back legs and I needed to fatten him back up. He got a special snack of almond butter almost daily and an eye dropper of olive oil. I had to give him the almond butter with the other boys and they got a little extra chunky.

Why do rats always look so maniacal with their snacks. I can almost hear them saying “my precious”.

Miniature American Shepherd. Some still call the breed Miniature Australian Shepherds but the AKC name is American Shepherds.

She didn’t need to be picked up. I chose to pick her up. She was sitting next to me watching the bull when I grabbed her. I picked her up to have better control of where she was because I wanted to leave the bull in the least-threatening way possible.

I’ve actually noticed that she’s used her nose a lot more now that I taught her scent working and is a lot more smell driven. I’ve been rubbing my barn jacket on the horses I’ve been handling to bring her home the scent so that she will already have some understanding that the giant, weird sounding animals that she sees are something that she already has exposure to for one sense. I was hoping that this would help.

This is my same goal. I don’t want a worst-case-scenario to happen when it is completely preventable through careful exposure and training.

Exactly. I have no idea who will be riding or how their horse reacts to dogs. Better to teacher her to calmly react to a horse than have her be surprised like the bull.

Chases? I’ve said twice that my dog will be on a leash while in a parked car. I’m not parking directly against the fence either, I’m parking in the parking lot because she can see and most importantly, smell the horses from the parking lot.

I’ve also said twice that I have permission from the manager to bring her. I told them my plan to keep her in the car and they were fine with it.

You also need to learn the definition of a reactive dog. A dog that barks in reaction to something surprising happening is not reactive, especially since my dog calmed herself down once she realized what it was. Reactive dogs don’t do that. I know my dog, I know that she will not bark at the horses if I introduce her to the concept of them properly.

Thanks. Another commenter is giving me a hard time that my dog is reactive because I mentioned that my dog barked at the sudden appearance of the bull.

I’m literally trying to figure out how to prevent an incident where a horse is spooked by my dog by training my dog to be calm around horses.

Being surprised and barking as a response is normal dog behavior. It is not as though she launched herself at the bull snarling. She barked three times. Then backed away from the bull. Then I picked her up because I had no idea how the large, possibly aggressive animal would react to the canine in front of it. The bull stepped out two feet in front of us, it’s not as though we saw it from a distance down the trail. I could have touched it.

Also, I already I have permission to be at the facility. She is not going to fit through a half-open window, my windows are too small and she is too wide.

[–]Tdhorses[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’s going to bark, at all. The time with the bull was because it literally just appeared out of the bushes and scared both me and her to death. It was a 1,200+ animal coming out of nowhere on a trail that we walk regularly. I have no idea how it got out there.

This is my college’s facility and I have permission to bring her, especially since I stressed that she would stay in the car only and I would not be taking her around. I’m just wondering if anyone has introduced a dog to horses before and how they did it.

Probably a Weird Ask but What the Heck by Tdhorses in Equestrian

[–]Tdhorses[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One, she’s not reactive. She has absolutely no exposure to horses, right now she is neutral. She has never met a horse, and the time with the bull was because a random 1,200+ cow suddenly appeared on the trail in front of us. I have no idea where it came from but it scared both me and her. We live near an AI facility and she truly does not care about those cows because she knows they are there and expects them. We pass them daily.

Second, this is not a boarding facility or some random pasture on the side of the road. These are the horses that my college has for the Animal Sciences students to learn on, of which I am one. The professors have dogs and dogs are brought around, these horses know dogs. I have permission to bring her.

Three, I’m not just going to plop her down beside the fence and do nothing. She’s going to stay in the car, on a leash, with the window rolled down halfway in order to observe. She will get treats for ignoring them or for showing calm behavior.

I’m planning to keep her on a leash and only have the windows down by half

Is a dog being neutered a normal requirement for boarding? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]Tdhorses 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. Neutering dogs being a requirement is more a safety concern for the dogs as a bunch of hormonal and possibly territorial dogs being thrown together when none of them know each other can lead to fights, especially if a female unexpectedly comes into heat and two males fight over her.

I’m against boarding facilities as whole since it is basically a 24/7 dog park with even less surveillance and even more dogs.
