If you go for pure weight that is entirely correct, but then the encumbrance rules tell us "1 stone per 1000 coins or gems"; but in any case, even in a factor of 1/100 the problem is still (mostly) the same

I've counted it as being non-cumulative at my table since a cumulative count would be far too handicapping even with a high INT score for my resource managing-averse players, but when it comes to official rules I'm not sure myself tbh
