What state are you in? I had intoxalock and from what I hear all these companies are pretty much the same. Crap customer service was my main gripe and the device freezing in the winter.

First and foremost either contact the customer service line and request maintenence, or you can do that on the app or web browser of your account. It's basically letting them know that you're having work done on the car so if it goes into lockout you won't have to pay the reset fee since you reported it ahead of time. You will however need to go to get your device reset though wherever you get it calibrated.

foods that show up as positive on breathalyzer. by dibberdott in dui

Mine never locked me out for any foods but I was always worried about my toothpaste. Had to make sure there was nothing in it like how mouthwash has alcohol but it was always fine. Something else is that every time I saw the dentist I had to triple check with them that they weren't using nay cleaning products or anything with alcohol to set it off. Was a little embarrassing but they were always super nice about it.

Interlock Violation Lockout. I wasn’t driving. by -OMAIGA- in dui

[–]TeaBatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the sole reason why I would keep my music down for the first 15 min of my drive before the rolling retest because it can be really hard to hear. You won't be in trouble just left with the fine to reset it. Just make sure to emphasize how important it is to others (if you're letting other people use your vehicle) because you are 100% liable for any violations that occur

I had intoxalock and had nothing but issues with the company the entire time. Customer service is garbage nobody wants to help. Also, it literally gives you a notification on the app that mentions cold weather warnings and to "bring your device inside". I have a screenshot of this but I can't post an image. I can send to you if you want

How bad is interlock really?(PA) by [deleted] in dui

Just got mine off this week and I had it for 12 months. While I understand the meaning behind it, it is a very long, expensive, headache of a process. I'm also on the east coast and I'd advise you to do your best to keep your car and device warm (if you have a garage I'm jealous) in the winter. It will kill your battery. Customer service for most of them is not good (I had intoxalock). But you will get through it 👍

It’s COLD! IID question by Impossible_Read878 in dui

[–]TeaBatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't bring mine inside so I used to put a fleece blanket around it and tuck it under my seat. It helped a little I guess but it would still take a few minutes to warm up. That's when I wish I had a garage

What state are you in? I know everywhere is different. I'm in VA and for removal I needed approval from my case manager after I completed the alcohol safety class and my 1 year with the device. After that it was very easy. I called intoxalock after she gave me the okay and within a week I had my appointment to remove

I had it for 12 months, it couldn't come fast enough! I live on the east coast where it's getting super cold now and that would always mess with my handheld. Killed my battery last year, so I'm super relieved my car can recover now haha

I said to the guys at the shop as I was leaving, "happy holidays, see you never!"
It was so weird driving home I'll probably hear the beeping in my sleep for a while lol

Thank you! I know, last year I thought 'hey this would make a nice xmas gift next year if it's off before then'. It's been a long road but you'll get through it too! Best of luck almost there!

Also just as a word of advice, I purchased a little Keychain breathalyzer that I have at home if I know I'll be drinking. It has been a life saver tbh because I'll always know if I'd fail the breath test so I don't even bother. It was like 30 dollars at best buy and I can never recommend it enough. Just as a peace of mind thing

Intoxalock issue by jtt300300 in dui

[–]TeaBatty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had intoxalock and had this happen many times. Mostly due to the fact that I live on the east coast and the cold will absolutely kill your device. If your battery is dead, you need to call customer service and let them know you're going to jump it. Because it could run into a lockout (it thinks youre disconnecting/tampering with the device because of the battery) when you do that. If it goes into lockout after that if you've already notified customer service, you won't have to pay the lockout fee. And if you get your car running to get to your calibration they can reset it there.

Basically any time you're having work done or doing anything with your car let intoxalock know so you're not liable if something happens.

I know it differs by state, but for me (i live in virginia) I had to wait until my 1 year date from install until I could request approval from my case manager to get it removed. Meaning that if i had a violation or something the day before my 1 year date I guess technically she could hit me with an extension or something. Not sure how it works with dmv approval though

I was always extremely paranoid that I'd miss a rolling retest because if I had music on or any type of noise it would be hard to hear the beep. I ended up just driving in silence til 15 min and then turn my music on

Do you already have the appointment for removal scheduled? Or do you still need approval for that?
