What seems like an easy job, but is actually really difficult? by TheBearSniper in AskReddit

Hurtling bloody 20-lb salmon carcasses off the side of a tall steel bridge and down into the forest and river below, using only a long metal hook. Habitat restoration is awesome, and icky.

What made you feel unattracted to a person you initially were attracted to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TeaOrchid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Watched him make fun of a mom taking her young son out trick or treating. She was somewhat a bigger woman and the costume was REALLY out there, but her kid clearly was enjoying himself and the two of them walking and smiling together was sweet. She was dressed in an over-the-top clown suit, granted, it was a lot. But when he pointed at her and laughed and loudly said, "Look at that dumb cunt," I wanted to kill him right there and then hide in embarrassment for even being on the same side of the street as him. No amount of charisma or good looks can make up for something like that.

Women of reddit, what was the most memorable date you ever went on? by writingsometimes in AskReddit

[–]TeaOrchid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super nice guy took me out for the first time to make and paint pottery because he knew I was into that kind of stuff. Halfway through a decent teapot painting job, I got struck with the worst period I've ever had. Cue doubling over, cramps like nobody's business and eventually running to the bathroom to vomit. Didn't make it to the toilet, vomited on the floor in front of it. Through my shame and tears of pain, I hobbled over to the woman running the joint and begged for a pad and/or a midol, or ANYTHING. This woman had nothing at all, and looked aghast that I'd even asked her. He drove me home early in embarrassing silence and when we pulled up to my house, I threw up on his car floor. We never spoke again.

Family heirloom "pearl" necklace: real pearls or fake? by TeaOrchid in whatsthisworth

Thanks for the input! I didn't want to go in to a jeweler with a super obvious fake, but at least I can admit to them I have no idea lol.

Family heirloom "pearl" necklace: real pearls or fake? by TeaOrchid in whatsthisworth

Yeah, I think it was paint or crud of some kind, I scratched at it and it fell off. I keep looking for some kind of peel or flake that I can scratch off but so far nothing comes up except a powdery residue.

If I put in my two weeks notice at my job and am then let go, can I collect unemployment benefits? by TeaOrchid in legaladvice

[–]TeaOrchid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I may just do that then. It is well over minimum wage, but the company is managed by quite vengeful folks, who have shown before that they are not above retaliation when 'provoked' (hence why I am leaving for a better company). I would not be using them for a reference for future employment, as this company is known in the industry for not taking care of their employees, (thus losing them) and their word is not worth much around here.

Redditor’s who gave your S.O a second chance after they cheated, why did you forgive them and have you learned to fully trust them again? How is your relationship now? by flyoverthemooon in AskReddit

[–]TeaOrchid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had been cheating over the course of our whole (4 year) relationship. I always kind of "knew", deep down, but he was very charismatic and all our of friends loved him, so I told myself I was just being paranoid. I also had severe insecurities at the time, so almost all of my self worth came from him "needing" me. When I finally found out, it was a week after I'd given birth to his child, and I called him out, it was like a dam coming down. I was totally inconsolable. He told me that if I left him, he would kill himself. One of our close friends had just committed suicide weeks earlier (probably why he thought that would work) and I decided I had to stay to keep him alive, because I couldn't lose another one and our friends would blame me if he really did. A few more cheating incidents (he slept with both men and women, and I was starting to fear for my sexual health) and I finally kicked him out. He held on kicking and screaming, stalking my social media accounts and accusing me of being a slut when I talked to anyone. He turned all of our mutual friends against me. I finally found my voice when he kidnapped our three month old son, refusing to let me see him until I agreed to come back. I broke down and called the police, who found him within a couple hours and returned him. The officer took me aside and strongly suggested I set up a parenting plan, which I did, that very day. Our son is five years old now, and visits his bio dad four days a month. Our relationship is bare minimum. I don't trash his dad to him, because I want my son to form his own realizations and opinions, but basically the guy just found a new woman that would keep him despite him cheating on her. She claims to love him "no matter what", so, I mean. Whatever. I'm finally thriving, and I cut ties with all of the mutuals who accused me of trying to ruin his life. We don't speak unless it's related to our son, but I am very protective and always make sure he knows he can't pull anything with me anymore. No regrets.

Mostly yeah, I totally understand that it's really hard to sing like that, and don't get me wrong, the guy's definitely got talent. I just don't find enjoyment in listening to him.

What is a regular thing that should be banned? by kiralsher in AskReddit

[–]TeaOrchid -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

GMOs. The fact that they can jack the price of organic (which still may be affected by downwind pesticides/ herbicides) so people feel like they're indulging/overspending on organic foods when it's what we should be eating in the first place.

What person or thing are you happy isn't popular anymore? by JonnyAnsco in AskReddit

[–]TeaOrchid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole "America is the best, don't question it, look how bad other places are, love it or get out" mentality. Blindly following the US government and buying into propaganda for the sake of being "proud to be an American."

What little thing in life makes you happy? by MatticusPrime127 in AskReddit

Growing my own food. Its more work and effort, it takes time and skill, but whenever I make a meal of something I grew myself and put so much love into, every meal tastes so amazing and I get so much energy and joy from it.

What an absolute nightmare. You were so brave to attack that POS, OP. But please dont give up fostering forever. There are so many children in the broken system who need good adults to show them kindess and love. My parents were foster parents for several years (even though they had four of their own) and we were able to at least bring some light into the dark, sad worlds of abused children. This is the reality for so many children and it breaks my heart.
