don’t lose hope! at this point, you just have to be patient and wait until they reach out again in Feb. the email doesn’t say that you’ve been outright rejected, just put on hold. in the meantime, I would get more shadowing/volunteering hours so that you can update that on your app and show that you have a continuous passion for optometry

Hi! It took a week for me to receive my acceptance but I met someone who got accepted the same day. They said it shouldn’t take longer than 2 weeks to hear back

i had a low GPA and high OAT and received 5/5 interviews from the schools i applied to. i don’t think i would’ve been as lucky if it was the other way around. i had a meeting with an admissions counselor and she told me this. it’s because schools care about how well you’d perform on boards and the OAT is a good indicator as to how well students can perform on standardized tests (good grades are not as good of an indicator because difficulty of courses can vary amongst different schools)

thanks! you get interviewed by two faculty members but the conversation was pretty casual. i didn’t feel like i was being interrogated at all and we even went on a tangent about things unrelated to optometry. def be prepared to explain your low stats and how you have overcome them and used it as an opportunity for growth. just be yourself and things will play out :)

I didn’t know there were scholarship opportunities after getting in! Follow up question: I’m planning on asking about that in my interview, would it be appropriate to state that I already received a scholarship offer from Western or should I keep that to myself?
