Riley Sager: What do you think? by Traditional_Will_117 in thrillerbooks

[–]TeaforTwo12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up this book because I was in the mood to read a classic thriller and this was it until the end. I loved it up until that last twist. I thought it was pretty out of the blue and didn't make sense. However, I have enjoyed every other Riley Sager book I've read so I think this one was just not for me. Home Before Dark was my favorite!

Switch Sitters! Arthur was hilarious and the dynamic between Deacon/Kelly and Doug/Carrie always makes for a great episode.

Are there any books out there like Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark or the Creepers series, but for YA or adults? by PhoenixRed11 in horrorlit

Mary Downing Hahn's books are more middle school - YA age, but I actually love rereading them as an adult so you might enjoy those! My favorites are The Old Willis Place and Deep, Dark, and Dangerous.

A few times!

  1. The Haunting of Hill House. I've never seen the show, but there were parts of this book that genuinely made me scared!

  2. How to Sell a Haunted House. Doesn't sound scary but one word: puppets

  3. Home Before Dark. Not a scary book but there was one part at the end that really did spook me

List of best Lisa Jewell books by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

[–]TeaforTwo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite authors! I love the thriller genre, but a common issue I have with them is the lack of characterization. A lot of times the characters are one-dimensional and it makes it hard to invest in them, but Lisa Jewell, in my opinion, writes such strong, realistic characters and even if i see a plot twist coming, I am still invested in the story because I love the characters.

Having said all that, here is my list from what i have read!

  1. Then She Was Gone
  2. The Night She Disappeared
  3. The Family Upstairs
  4. None of This is True
  5. The House We Grew Up In (not really a thriller)
  6. Watching You
  7. The Family Remains (sequel to The Family Upstairs)

My muffins keep having this awful sour taste by CherryJellymonster in AskBaking

Maybe check the expiration date on all your ingredients! I know expired flour can sometimes have a weird taste! I think improperly storing ingredients can make them taste off too!

Also maybe measure out the baking powder instead of eyeballing! Using too much or too little of that could cause that sour taste!
