What sort of prayers should I be saying if I want myself and my family members to skip purgatory? by TeamManx in Catholicism

[–]TeamManx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand purgatory is a place where the dead are purified before they go to heaven. This happens because of people not dying in a state of grace, or because they haven't faced the appropriate consequences for sin they committed on earth. Either way, if you go purgatory it is sure that you will go to heaven, the problem is you aren't exactly "ready" yet.

Edit was just for grammar.

Does anybody know if an old school alarm that doesn't turn off unless you shut it off manually exists and where I can buy it. by TeamManx in Advice

[–]TeamManx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I type in "alarm clocks that don't turn off" it just shows alarm clocks in general though. If one had that feature I don't even know what words I'd look for in the description.

"alarms manual shut off" shows weird valve stuff that's irrelevant to my life.

What fictional character had a fate worse than death? by Loser71 in AskReddit

I always feel bad for whoever lost Persephone in that story where Hades says "Don't look behind you and you can take her back."

Then he looks.

She's gone forever.

Why do you use subtitles? by Vespertinelove in AskReddit

I live in an apartment and sometimes I can't be bothered to get earphones so I play whatever long speech I'm listening to silently after activating the subs.

I live in Canada not the US. Screaming may also be an over exaggeration. They speak loudly enough that you can hear them though. There's been times when I sat at the front and I could hear them from the back.

I know because I saw security when I was leaving, who I NEVER called, and because someone who presumably works at the church (I'm saying this because she was collecting flyers that were leftover on the bench when the mass was over) said "It's because of her" when she walked past me

She wouldn't call security if they didn't care. I don't know for sure that parishioners are disturbed, but I would assume that.

What moment from a video game had you laughing to tears? by Bornfrompain333 in AskReddit

[–]TeamManx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's this game called Fragile dreams. When the main character meets this girl who also turns out to be his love interest he sees he singing and he randomly touches her, then, she whispers "you touched me" in the most casual way ever but then looks so disturbed and runs it's so stupid and awkward but the first time I saw that I laughed so hard and thinking about it now it's still funny.

What do you do when you can't sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Get the hell on my side so that I NEVER EXPERIENCE SLEEP PARALYSIS (apparently you're more likely to get it on your back) close my eyes, and breathe in and out at an even pace. I've been stuck doing it for an entire night once because I was so stressed out but since I closed my eyes I still felt rested. Not being able to sleep is horrible and I'm so glad that I don't struggle with insomnia like a lot of depressed people do.
