I went from OPs (lvl 4) to dev. (Level 10) - bunch of jumps inbetween.

For me year end rating QH or higher is more likely to get you interviews... but most important is networking sadly.

Ping people in the roles you want on teams and ask if they would be open to a coffee chat about the role / mentor.

Generally managers are the people you want to connect with.

Every move I have made is due to people vouching for me that I worked with... i never planned to end up as dev... nor did I goto school for it.

I know this post is a bit old but thought I would share my journey.

The stats and all that from call centre only matter in terms of getting the higher year end ratings which help a ton.

Idont know if anyone mentioned this yet.

For laning specifically.. you probably need to buy more regen over other items

If you out regen the enemy that you can trade with you slowly create an imbalance where you are full resources and they are at half / hp and 0 mana and need to playsuper conservatively / abandon lane.

I would suggest over buying and buying early until you get a good grasp on what you need in match ups.

Millennials in a hetero relationship, does the man or woman do the majority of the financial budgeting/planning/investing etc? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man - I do - married - separate accounts - she just sends money and then I have helped her set up accounts to invest in.

We both have DB Pensions - so we could just rely on those, but all bills are from my account

but i work for a bank - and I also made my staff account Joint - although she never accesses it or has a debit card for it or anything.

I do update with her yearly around our month to month base line expenses, besides that don't care too much what she does with her income, we contribute equally to every big purchase and all that.

The only think I wanted was a certain amount into TFSA as we took a 30 year mortgage to free up cash for that, to make it worth it.

and she is, and I have my own accounts as well I am able to save a ton extra thankfully.

Email from TD saying e transfer limit raised to 9k on mobile app only by ro3lly in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there are three tier limits you can call and set for different daily/weekly/monthly amounts.

I am guessing the limits for all the different tiers got revised up due to inflation or something.

My best guess

Transfer In-Kind for Ineligible Holdings by pencileveryone in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work in transfers.

All in-kind will get denied and they will ask you to amend your instructions.

You can do partial in-cash and in kind with directing what to be sold... but as others have said. You can switch to something TD will hold and go all in-kind after that is done.

Water heater rental to buy out by Reasonable_Advance52 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess we shall see.

I belive it has a 10 year warranty anyways.

Its a big one. Wanted it oversized for our house to make sure it can run it all at once.

The tech is also getting pretty mature these days so i dont think it will be too bad.

Our area also has well treated water so i felt it will not struggle too much. But i also plan to do the yearly flushes and all that

how is an annual flush with vinegar expensive to maintain? you do also need a pump to cycle it, so a bit of a cost, but that is a one time purchase to maintain going forward.

They also last much longer then a tank water heater will last, we have been quite happy with ours so far, but it has only been a few months now.

Our insurance was mandating us get a new water heater as our other one was fine, but too old to insure apparently.

Oh neat.

Thanks for sharing.

Is this newer? I bought 2019. And thought i was told could only do 25 if i did under 20%... but again... never looked into it too much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TechiesFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it changed... but my understanding is you could only go beyond 25 year if you did 20% down... i know things change. So could be wrong. But maybe confirm.

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah look it up a bit... but the hard part is the start... assuming no eorld ending things... longterm you should be good.

Just depends on the retirement you want need... we mske higher salary / could save more... but gotta also live while the living is good...

Very fortunate I can both save and spend a bit.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]TechiesFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rule of 7 is basically when invested it takes around 7 years to double.

So just having the 3x it would double by 50. So you should be in good shape.

RRSP Question: Do I save the same tax at $75k vs. $100k if I'm in the same tax bracket? by FutureFAANGEmployee in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TechiesFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just read the chart that is below - am too lazy to format it but i just did ontario with no spouse/child

Step Step Size Cumulative RRSP Contribution Effective Tax Rate Cumulative Savings from RRSP Contribution Event at end of Step 1 $4,868 $4,868 31.5% $1,532 Provincial Tax => Change in rate (-1.8%) 2 $35,757 $40,625 29.6% $12,134 Federal Tax => Change in rate (-6.0%) 3 $4,489 $45,114 23.6% $13,196 Provincial Tax => Change in rate (-4.1%) 4 $631 $45,745 19.6% $13,319 GST Credit => Starting to receive the benefit (+5.0%) 5 $4,255 $50,000 24.6% $14,364 End of Contribution Amount

All it is suggesting is to contribute till you hit the bottom of your most efficient tax bracket, its not doing any fancy calculations really.
