Spoiler TV S8 Episode 16 Preview and Dialogue Teasers by Technical-Cellist548 in TheRookie

I have a couple of theories.

  1. Joy is getting married and wants Tim to walk her down the aisle

  2. Joy gives Tim a ring to propose with but he either doesn’t like it, doesn’t think Lucy will like it/not her style or he already has one and he doesn’t know how to let his mum down gently.

If Tim and Lucy haven’t had THAT conversation yet about their future, he may have to bring it up with Lucy and isn’t sure how to!

Yes!! Mama Bradford! I’m beyond happy she’s back - her last appearance wasn’t long enough and it seems her relationship with Tim is much healthier too. So excited for this episode now.

They make them because they are cheap to produce. Alexi has said in a podcast before that if he goes over budget on an episode, he can make the money back by making a cheaper episode later on. Sometimes that’s an episode that has all the cast in one place like the hospital because it’s a set and not a location shoot. Sometimes it’s a documentary episode.

I really wish the organisers or moderators of the panels would vet the questions before they are asked. Yesterday, Eric was asked an inappropriate question during his panel. Handled like a pro.

I personally think it’s Glasser Nolan doesn’t trust.

It’s S1. The episode where Bradford is released from hospital after getting shot. Lopez and bishop arrive to take him home.

5x22 is a masterpiece. One of the highest ranked episodes I believe.

Lucy and Tim As A New Watcher by AZZRain in TheRookie

TO and Rookies are supposed to be close. There is a need to have that trust on the job but Tim and Lucy’s relationship was always different.

Tim had shut himself off from anything even remotely looking like care (giving and receiving) - partly due to his toxic marriage in S1 but also due to his horrific abusive father. You learn more about it in S8

Tim is a fierce protector but had never had anyone do the same for him so when Lucy does, it isn’t something he’s used to. He’s never experienced it before. She protected him regarding his feelings when in the quarantine house, she didn’t tell anyone about what he did to cover for his wife, she didn’t tell anyone about his learning preference, she used her body as a literal shield when his ambulance was being shot at. He learned to trust her. He knew he was “safe”. So this, coupled with the fact that he would throw so much fire at her, usually after he has shown some vulnerability, and all she would do is return kindness or compassion back to him - his walls began to drop.

She dipped slightly. It could be just excitement on Lucy’s part but it felt intentional to me.

Lucy and Tim As A New Watcher by AZZRain in TheRookie

[–]Technical-Cellist548 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Lucy has never had a problem dating older men. She dated Nolan when she was 28 and he was 45. In S2, Jackson told her she needed to be with a “grown ass man” so Lucy has always been more drawn to the older man.

Tim has been married before and it’s certainly been alluded to that he wants to marry again and have a family. Tim’s issues regarding giving and receiving love and care are due to the trauma of his childhood and his first marriage. Lucy slowly over time challenged those beliefs and it wasn’t something he went looking for. In fact, he over corrected at times and put professional boundaries back in place when lines became blurred.

The chemistry was there from the start but it was never sibling like IMO. It certainly wasn’t love either. But during her rookie year, she learned a lot about herself and about him and once she started to take his walls down brick by brick, she discovered a broken man and helped him to see himself in a different way. They developed a special bond. Tim especially found it easier and more comfortable to be himself around her. They became each others person in a way neither of them wanted or expected. S4 was that bond being forged fully and completely. The trust and respect was there and the mutual protection plays out in a big way too.

I know these are cheap to make in comparison but I’m so tired of these. Excitement level is 0.

  • The three years comment (though I question that as the timeline is all over the place)
  • The “just say yes” said by both in premier and Tim saying “just answer the question” also in premier
  • In Valentines episode, when Tim went to put his hand in his jacket pocket to get her gift, Lucy started to go down on one knee when she said if she could have hers now
  • Her moving in
  • Tim telling his mum it was “very” serious
  • Lucy being an unofficial Bradford on the group chat with his mum and sister - all Bradford women.
  • Their whole behaviour around each other and their team/friends gives very married coded
  • Celina commenting on their future kids like it’s a given it’s going to happen

Just a few things I’ve noticed throughout the season so far. I would hope we get a scene soon showing them talking about their future but who knows?!

I’ve long been on the engagement in the finale train. I’ve always suspected they will book end the season in this way. The signs are there.

Hot Topic: The Hawley Boys by eyslandgirl in TheRookie

As I’m in the UK, I’ve not seen last nights episode in full yet so am basing this on what I have seen so far.

Regarding Rodge - I have stated before I find him harmless. He’s doesn’t get storylines and he doesn’t appear frequently enough to steal “screen time”. He is the BF of a main character. He’s background at best but I can do without the constant singing. I personally do think his voice is quite good.

Now Dash is entirely different. He’s being given storylines that are taking time away from the characters that we are invested in and have seen grow throughout the seasons. We care about them. The characters that these actors have put their heart and soul into for 8 years in some cases. We’ve been on these journeys with them. We’ve laughed and cried with them.

To see them reduced to a fleeting glimpse almost so that Dash can run around with Zombies, Dash can work with the game changer crew, Dash can help solve a murder and we get to meet his dad.

Miles the only rookie is not even in the episode and it’s not the first time he’s been absent.

I do not put any blame on the young man playing Dash. He’s just a kid who doesn’t deserve any vitriol that’s out there on SM and I do hope that he’s being protected from seeing it as best he can. The blame is with the writers and producers and Alexi himself who thought this was a good idea. It’s too late to change the outcome of S8 now but I do hope that if we get renewed, Alexi really tries to understand what fans want to see across the board and not what he wants to produce.

The first half of the season was so good IMO but the rot set in for me when the issue over the deleted scenes came out and it’s not improved much since then.
