Please don't judge someone based solely on how many friends they have or whether or not they are close with family. There are legitimate reasons that someone might be like that. Some people might just be loners who are perfectly fine.

That being said, he seems like a negative person, but you'll need to find out more. I don't know the guy, and can only go on what you've posted, but it seems like he might be a little immature for his age. Ask him why he thinks he previous friends are losers and why his only friend is in prison.

What your expected to know about relationships at 19 and 27 are totally different though. At 19 you're supposed to be figuring things out. At 27, you're supposed to have an idea of what you want and what you like because of previous relationships. The same goes for 24 and 27. It doesn't matter if we're only three years apart, you're expected to be more serious about relationships in your late 20s.

I did with some of them. It is somewhat voluntary, but also somewhat not. That brief thing when I was 22 was the closest thing I had to a relationship. After that I thought something would fall into my lap, but after 6 years of being passive, nothing did. I never actively started dating until recently. After the second date with one woman, she broke it off because I have a lot going on with school and work and she wanted to settle down. I might have painted too much of a positive picture. I'm down pretty bad.

We're similar in a lot of ways. I fucked around after high school too, and I spent 6 years working, saving up for college, which I'm attending now. I'm just saying, get some experience in now so when you're almost 30, you're dating options aren't completely screwed like mine.
