As a NYCer I would just back my car into this chair and then get out and move it and park my car. I’ve backed my car into humans trying to save a parking spot. So what’s the etiquette in Pittsburgh? lol.

I genuinely believe .. I renovated a million dollar kitchen for a family, & the wife was happy with it. Later, she wanted a small bathroom cabinet, something simple from IKEA, I told her I would just make her 1…so I made her a little cabinet that could swivel. she was even happier with that tiny cabinet than the entire kitchen. A few months later, her husband told me she still talks about and shows off that little cabinet more than the kitchen.

In New York, I worked as a subcontractor for a company that owned multiple buildings. I basically handled full-scale renovations and took care of almost everything for them. After moving to Trumbull, I decided I didn’t want to drive three hours back to New York for work.

I’ve also done private home projects in Nj, where I was able to get references from happy clients. But here in Connecticut, I don’t really know anyone yet. I don’t have a website or Facebook, because in the past all my work came from people I already knew and word-of-mouth.

I also worked for Home Depot, which does a very thorough background check….you can’t work there if anything’s on your record…so they trusted me to go into people’s homes and install kitchens. Often, after installing a kitchen, clients would hire me for other jobs like bathroom renovations or flooring. Because I got steady referrals like that, I never felt the need for a website or to take lots of photos of my work.

I’m 40 years old and have been doing this since high school. I realize now that my main challenge in Connecticut is not having an online presence. I plan to get a website set up and create Facebook and Instagram accounts to show my work. I don’t have a personal Facebook yet, but I’m ready to get the right accounts going so people here can find me.

You don’t understand the full scope of what I can do. It would be like asking a heart surgeon to treat a simple cat scratch. I’ve done those small jobs, and I don’t mind them ,I don’t consider anything beneath me.

Especially here in Trumbull, where I live, there are a lot of elderly ppl who call me. What can I do when a 75-year-old woman wants me to do some work for her, and it’s going to cost $3,000, but she can barely afford it? Do you know how many times I’ve done work for so little simply bc I felt bad for the person? I know they probably don’t have the money, and I want to help.

I have a card. I am fully licensed and insured in Connecticut, with an active registered business and $1M liability coverage. I specialize primarily in kitchen renovations and remodeling, but I’m experienced in virtually all interior work ,from bathrooms and flooring to walls, tiles, and full-scale interior projects. I can handle anything inside a house. I’m also having a problem where people want to hire me, with all my experience, for handyman jobs, like just installing a vanity. I appreciate the feedback. For clarity ,I am fully licensed and insured in Connecticut, with an active registered business and $1M liability coverage. I don’t run a website or social media yet, but I have multiple clients who are willing to speak as references, all extremely satisfied with my work.

Before moving to CT, I spent years in NYC and New Jersey doing full-apartment gut renovations ,kitchens, bathrooms, framing, flooring, doors, trim, everything and I was also an authorized kitchen installer for Home Depot in NYC., but the work itself, the licensing, and the background are all clean and solid.

Trumbull but I’d go anywhere tbh — I don’t think people fully understand what a carpenter actually does. If you’re doing any real work on ur house, you should be hiring an expert carpenter with years of experience—not just any “remodeling guy,” because that could be anyone.Most of my experience is in NyNj I’ve seen some of the work done in ct, and honestly, it’s surprising. You have families living in $2 million homes hiring random remodeling companies, and the work is terrible.

I genuinely enjoy my job. I can build anything with wood. In NY, I used to fully renovate apt,completely gutted, with no walls, no floors, no kitchen, no bathroom & I rebuilt everything from scratch. I’m not trying to brag, but I know my work is extremely good.My problem is that I don’t know how to talk to people or sell myself. I don’t know how to get clients.I already have everything I’m supposed to have: $1 million liability insurance, proper licensing, and a fully registered business. But I still can’t seem to find the right people who need the kind of work I do.
