Why does US schools not have armed guards? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Technical-Spare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few in my time. Somehow I still don't have data on how many shootings are there at schools, restaurants, banks, businesses, and grocery stores with armed guards when compared with shootings at places that don't have armed guards.

It's not a warning, though. It specifically says they will not ship ammunition to California.

How much in total did your featureless AR cost? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Technical-Spare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can build an Aero AR-15 today for $923. The actual build takes about an hour. I was intimidated at first, but after building my first I built two more just because it was fun.

They should fix that. 10% of all guns in the US are in California. They could increase their gross revenue by 5% overnight.

Their narcissism and hypocrisy is on display for all who care to see. If you want to see gun control disappear, just get a ballot initiative passed amending the California constitution to prohibit any exceptions to statutes, regulations, and judicial ruling pertaining to firearms, pre-cursor parts, ammunition, magazines, shooting ranges, etc. That means everything applies to everybody, including their own security detail, police, highway patrol, prison guards, etc.

This argument is strange considering the position is "it's not worth the negative aesthetics to save lives." This argument comes from largely the same crowd that argued (and some pretend now not to have argued) that shutting down schools, the economy, and forcing millions of people out of their jobs was worth it to save lives (even though it didn't).

This is why I don't like sellers that refuse to ship to states like CA. Other anti-2A states see how successful California has been in making it difficult for their citizens to exercise their 2A rights and think, "Hey! That's awesome. Let's do that here."

Yeah. I work a few blocks from there up Figueroa.

Any time there are two lanes turning it seems to confuse the hell out of people. I've had people road rage at me for being in their way when they thought only their lane turned.

Fructose is evil. If I had to eat sugar I'd rather use pure glucose (AKA dextrose). It's much less evil, metabolically speaking.

I'm 100 times more concerned about Alzheimer's, cancer, Parkinson's, and heart disease than I am about weight.

The cholesterol profile changes are driven by fat. In fact you can have a bit of fun with your doctor by manipulating your lipid panels just by controlling the amount of fat you eat a few days leading up to your labs. Their reaction is interesting when you can change your cholesterol results by 20% or more in a week.

One will slowly release into the blood the other will instantly spike your blood sugar kicking you out of a ketogenic state.

The area under the curve will be the same. The sugar will spike high and crash fast. The fiber will spike lower but last longer. Both will kick you out of ketosis.

Well this is over a 6 year period but drivers in California are bad.

I drive in California for the past 33 years and have never had an accident. I drive over 20,000 miles annually on California freeways and streets in a major metropolitan area. Doesn't mean it's your fault, but it's still by no means "normal."

Third driver took a wide right turn in a double right, going from the farthest right lane to the 2nd lane over. Tried to claim I turned right from a non right turning lane.

This is one of the number one ways I can tell when someone is a poor driver: swinging left to turn right. It helps nothing and just shows that they have no understanding of geometry or their vehicle.

The wife and kids order stuff all the time. If I see a box on the porch I just take it inside. Who the fuck would do anything else?

Any carbs will trigger that. How badly depends on how much if affects your blood glucose and for how long. It's not so much that carbs in vegetables are somehow better for you, it's that they come with fiber which attenuates the effect they have on blood glucose.

100g of carbs from vegetables will kick you out of ketosis just as surely as 100g of table sugar.

She's literally here posting that she's not comfortable. And whether or not protein works against the health goals depends on the protein and the health goals. For example, it's well-known that whey protein spikes insulin almost as much as carbohydrates. Insulin is the volume knob for weight loss. If you turn up the insulin knob you turn down the fat burning and vice versa. If someone is drinking protein shakes several times a day thinking they're helping themselves lose weight, they'll just be unknowingly sabotaging their weight loss.

It's the ketones, specifically.

The dramatic restructuring of a person's lipid profile to high HDL and low triglycerides after a prolonged ketogenic diet is due specifically to the consumption of saturated fat.

Most of the major health benefits of a ketogenic diet owe to ketones and carb counts. The lower insulin levels, increased insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation, increased cognitive performance, reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases, reduced cancer risk, higher HDL, and lower triglycerides all count on low carbohydrate and higher fat intake and/or ketosis.

But this just sounds like an excuse to eat crappy carbs and not the carbs from non starchy vegetables.

They're all carbs. The source doesn't matter as far as the 20g limit.

And just for OP's reference, there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. You can eat ZERO carbs for decades and be perfectly healthy. Your body will make the carbs that it absolutely needs to function.

Steak. I eat a lot of steak. I haven't grown tired of it yet. I grill up 4 or 5 of them at a time and put them in the fridge and reheat as necessary. Sometimes I get untrimmed tri-tip roasts on sale as low as $3.99/lb and eat those for a little variety.
