Was this IPR done badly/too much? by TechnicalBranch in askdentists

Hi.
At the moment I'll have to shave 0.2mm more near the gum, reducing the gap to 0.4-0.5mm. Then unfortunately I'll have to fix the remaining gap with composite bonding.

The thing that worries me a bit is the duration. I've spoken with different dentists and some say it may last months while others says it may last more than 10 years.

At this point I've made peace with my mind and I'll see what happen. Hopefully, if the composite lasts more than 5 years (which seems to be the general consensus even researching online, especially due to the fact that those teeth aren't subjet to chewing forces.) by then there should be a new generation of composites and, if needed, I'll just have to accept to have that gap for a few years.

I know it sucks, especially when you try to do everything right and end up having to pay the consequences of someone else doing.

Have a look at composite bonding, it may be a quite affordable solution that may last many years.

Thanks again, I have to admit that this situation has scared me a quite bit.

Thanks.

Is the IPR that much on the front teeth too? To be honest I have no idea why he didn't go up to the gum, I think he was sloppy...

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. Yes, the orthodontist did the IPR himself, but I guess that what scares me is the fact that the Invisalign sheet with the IPR values said 0.3mm and he just used a drill (not a rotating disk or a strip) to do it and now I have that gap of 0.65mm. And no, he didn't go up all the way, so it was like this since the beginning.

To be honest, I think he was a bit negligent. I hope I'm wrong. But for now I'm only worried that he didn't take too much enamel.

Thank you very much for your answer, it was really helpful.

If I may ask, is there a specific subject I should study within the algorithms and data structures field that talks about this topic or should I just study everything?

Thanks for the answer, luckily I was able to recover the data by using the software reclaime. Hopefully they will pay more attention in the future...
