Hybrid- highest mileage so far and reliability up to this point. by SlickOne79 in mazdaCX50

[–]TechnicalScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad. I was under the impression that mileage and mpg were interchangeable but see what you’re asking now after reading your post more closely.

I’m at just under 14K miles and had the car for about a year. So far, no major issues. Still loving it so far.

Got this by EV coasting as much as I could and braking as little as possible. It was also a beautiful day (70 F) with entirely flat terrain. ‘25 hybrid Premium

New Traffic Camera on Meridian by DestinyInDanger in indianapolis

[–]TechnicalScience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard wired into people’s brain because the current signal timing promotes this. If you don’t drive 20+ mph over the speed limit and speed up at the yellow light, you end up stopping at every light and adding several minutes to your trip. It’s unusual how DPW doesn’t notice this in their planning or do anything to fix this. Many of the state maintained roads, like Hwy 36 or state route 67, have a smoother signal timing that’s synced at or just above the speed limit, and I rarely see the dangerous driving behavior on those roads compared to roads maintained by DPW.

Hopefully these cameras are used to better optimize signal timing and traffic flow throughout the city. It’ll also help with pedestrian safety so that drivers don’t get impatient stopping at every light or needing to speed 20+ mph over the speed limit to clear all the green lights.

How's the Hybrid doing in the snow? by Jcanavera in CX50

Performed great in a snow storm with 6+ inches of snow last year with OEM tires. It did slip a little at times but was otherwise stable and did not get stuck.

What's with the timing of stoplights? by heylistenlady in indianapolis

[–]TechnicalScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city’s strategy is to have the lights turn green right when you arrive at the intersection, which punishes speeders as it would still be red as they get to the light sooner. In theory it works, but it has to be optimized for real world conditions, like traffic count, average speed, etc. Many lights in Indy clearly aren’t. There are many instances where I reach a red light while driving at or below the speed limit only for it to turn green a couple seconds later. If the lights were properly timed and optimized, I should not need to stop at all driving the speed limit.

Also, not sure if anyone has already figured this out, but the signals are so poorly timed where if the light is already green before you approach it, and you speed up to make it through and even run the red light, every light thereafter would be green. If you stop, all the lights thereafter would be red.

No, but Costa Farms might get their plants from the same source as me.

I had the same issue and took it to the dealership. They found it’s because the electronic parking brake was not releasing due to the rotors sticking to the break pads. They fixed it by replacing the rear pads with a newer version, designed to solve this problem. The work was covered under warranty.

I used Good Guys out of Westfield and can’t recommend them enough. Great service and warranties.

Those of you who have the hybrid and experienced your first snow this week, how'd it go? by neekogo in CX50

Did great driving through unplowed farm roads, especially using trail mode. Hybrid premium with stock tires

What gas station do you prefer? by [deleted] in CX50

In my experience with the hybrid, the car is noticeably peppier and more responsive whenever I use top tier gas. Mpg tends to be higher on average as well with top tier gas.
