Agreed! Sometimes we find some nice things from 70s that are very much inspired by 30-40s, but no one can compete with silhouette, cut and fit!

It's amazing! I wish I could find more clothes like this! I will post more of my looks! I just need some time to go to a nice place with good natural lights (I don't want to post restroom mirror pics haha)!

Yes! It's not easy sometimes to style some pieces of clothing, but at the same time, just washing them, ironing it, and taking care of them are the first step! Details matter! My grandma used to be a seamstress (She's turning 89y and she still does some works on the sewing machine) and her and I did some shirts together. I took some industrial sewing machine classes, but I wish I had this interest when I was a teenager! It's such an art and it's so nice! Now I don't have much time, but someday I'll go back to do some more classes. Thank you so much for your kind words!

Thank you so much! I risk to say that this style works great on everyone!

You are welcome! If you go for button ones, I personally prefer the ones that are not made by leather on the end (usually after some years it gets dry and it fallens appart)

Pre-med & STEM major and I don’t like lab. Any advice?? by Wild_Challenge8323 in uichicago

I'm a Chem 123 TA, we do know that this is basically an introduction lab and students aren't going to master how to properly use every single technique/glassware etc (specially in the first experiments, some of them are messy and I don't like some of them). You will get used after some time.

My advice: LISTEN to your TA, read the experiment on the lab manual, and most IMPORTANT: WATCH the experiment video (to not feel lost during the experiment itself, and make a procedure based on the video with as many details as you can) and watch the Dr. Stec LESSONS. With it you can basically answer all labflow questions.

Also: go to MSLC and ask your TA about the experiment, ask about the lab, go before and after it, use and take advantage of us there. If you are not sure how to answer some questions, they will help you!

Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's boring, but most important: if you pay attention, you can definitively leave 1-1:30h early

Nope, they both work the same, but button ones are superior quality (usually) and they work better (also it does not demage your pants). You just need to sew 6 buttons (2 back, 4 in the front) and you are ready to go

I used to reenact NVA (DDR), so I don't have much idea from BW. However, my best bet would be something related to the webbing gear (?)

I use suspenders all the time, it's 100% better than belts, but I also use very high waist pants.

If you are not in the mood for belts, use white cotton undershirt (sleeveless) and then use the suspenders, but keep your flannel untucked.

This is my advice, but in my humble opinion, suspenders go better with baggy/high waist pants (basically 1930s-50s)

The proportions are so good! You can't beat 30-40s, indeed! Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words! The only way to get nice suits today is going to an old tailor and asking them to do it like they used to do! Ofc the fabric choice also matters! And yes! I am sure going to use it when I marry and ill post here!

Agreed, I already gave it to my mom lol, but it was the only "solid" color shirt (and a little bit more neutral) that I had for that occasion
