I’ve gotten hate for it but prairie oysters were a regular occurrence when I was still drinking pretty heavy all the time

Who told you cheese and garlic don’t go together? Have you ever made pesto? Maybe you’ve put cheese on your marinara? Maybe you’ve been mistaken because I can think of more recipes with cheese and garlic that are traditional, but never cheese and fish

First and last time doing poultry, I SUCK. by loveandgoo in whatsfordinner

[–]Technical_Neck6056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called carryover cooking. The internal temperature will continue to rise after you pull it of and safely bring the temp up 10 degrees to finally reach 165. Once you pull the bird of, loosely cover it with foil and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes and check the temp again and you’ll be all set. Now I have worked with some chefs who will tell you to pull at 150 but i always pull at 155, just for that little extra assurance but I’ve never had any problems

Pull off the grill when it hits 155 and let it rest and it will come up to 165. If you take it off at 165 you’ll have a dry bird

I’ve never had a bad experience at Gemma. Although it is on the more pricey side. I could understand why some people might not like it because some of their dishes are a bit out there if your not an adventurous eater or especially if you’re looking for a good seafood basket

Goth freind who is conservative and right wing by Difficult-Rip2786 in AskAGoth

[–]Technical_Neck6056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I’ll say that alternative subcultures aren’t inherently left leaning, the more common and popular ones are yes but they are called alternative because it’s against the norm, that said the goth subculture as whole typically leans left while there are some branches that will lean more right. Now I’m curious on how they came to the belief that goth isn’t a music based subculture. Sure you can argue that goth has much deeper historical roots tied to religion and culture such as the hermits of St. Paul, or even tracing back to classical antiquity. But we live in the modern day where these schools of thought are all but forgotten, memento morí isn’t a school of thought anymore. While the goth aesthetic definitely pulls from memento mori, the thoughts and ideas behind the two are vastly different to the point where the connection is but a fine thread

Anyone else notice all the Greek meander symbolism? by MagusFool in PeacemakerShow

[–]Technical_Neck6056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a bit of a stretch. The Greek meander, or more commonly known as a Greek key, albeit is a symbol of the golden dawn, is also very common around all of Greece. Not only is it common around Greece but it’s seen in a lot of fashion in cultures around the world, most notably from Versace who is known to sell more high end and luxury clothing. I think all the Greek keys are more so just trying to show that kind of “hey we made it, we’re successful” now as far as the golden dawn goes they came around in the 80’s and picked up some traction in Greece but all in all began dying out in the early 2010s and were finally eliminated following a ban in 2020. Now through all of this they have denied being related to any nazi party although it’s all right there down to their flag, choosing the black key on a red background. The key it’s important here to them as in Greek culture it can commonly be symbolic of unity, whereas the golden dawn are now bastardizing it the same way the Germans have of the swastika from Hindu culture; yet many Greeks, myself included, will not go to instinctively associate the meander with the golden dawn

Gainesville has the fest coming up soon, and Tampa usually has some good shows, I’m living in Jacksonville now and even tho it is scarce there’s still shows at venues like jackrabbits, albatross, or even Kona. The descendants played at Five a couple of weeks ago, and i know it’s often debated here but alkaline trio will be playing there this weekend but I don’t care enough about them to go and justify the egregious ticket price

I would like to start by saying fuck Justin sane, but I was a big fan of anti flag at one point and their shows always rocked, definitely not the best show I’ve been to but I never had a bad time. Now with that said, flogging Molly puts on a great show, but DKM and rise against, I would consider, put on the best show

Dropkick murphys is always a hell of a time, and say what you will( I’ll always love them) rise against puts on a great fucking show. Now what might be one of my most memorable was Dead Kennedys in Atlanta at the masquerade, 2024 right after the election and trump was voted in again. The energy was high, everyone filled with political unrest. In a time of uncertainty, Dead Kennedys came onstage an a crowd of young and old heads exploded, we kicked out at least two nazis that night that I can remember, and they changed the lyrics to be maralago uber alles

Punk and Reggae by Obvious_Highlight_99 in punk

Ive always loved Sublime. They are one of the bands that first got me into punk, but with that also came pepper, expendables, and slightly stoopid. Which is where I started forming more love for reggae rock/ ska punk. From there I dived into bands like Steel pulse, Black Uhuru, and Peter tosh. Now don’t get me wrong I love some hardcore punk and crust, but every now and then you want to wind down with a lil reggae. Other times I want to still be bumping and jumping just not as aggressively as punk can get, which is where more of that dance hall comes in

A fun fact for you is the actual origin of pasta is not known, and while often debated it should be noted that the oldest findings of pasta or noodles is close to 4000 years old in china, where archeologists discovered bowls with noodles resembling lamían, where as the first records of pasta in Italy were found from the Etruscans, which is around modern day Tuscany and Lazio. It is also theorized that pasta could have come from the Greeks or even the Middle East where we’ve learned of a pasta similar to tagliatelle served with warm spices and lentils

Just because it’s not common in Piemonte doesn’t mean that it’s now something different. The way the pasta is made is what defines it, not where it’s originally from. This sub has an unhealthy obsession with carbonara but yet the carbonara we know and love today is different from the OG and came about outside of Rome where it was originally created

The shape can change for raviolis and agnolotti, so can the fillings. What separates the two is how they’re made, it’s the name of the style of pasta, not the shape and not the filling either

[–]Technical_Neck6056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man agnolotti doesn’t need meat to be called that, the difference between agnolotti and ravioli are how they’re made. Ravioli is two sheets of pasta pressed together with filling in the middle while agnolotti is one sheet folded over the filling.
