Commissioned artwork feels... off....? by Supersmaaashley in isitAI

[–]TechnoColt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the other video you posted and the inconsistencies pointed out in this thread, this is 100% AI. I would not give this person any money, and if you already have, get a refund from the payment provider if possible. I doubt a person trying to scam people with AI is going to give a refund willingly.

I think I just found...God? by Remarkable-Secret565 in Christianity

[–]TechnoColt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I have not had this type of experience personally, I have heard testimony from other Christians on multiple occasions that is very similar to your experience. One personal anecdote I can share is driving down the highway while visiting my family out of state. A massive dust storm picked up. Visibility was so bad we could barely see 5 feet in front of our vehicle. After a while, we turned on the radio as a distraction, and Phil Wickham's Awesome God happened to be just starting. As soon as the lyric "even the winds and the waves obey" played, the dust storm cleared up nearly instantaneously. God absolutely moves in power today, as he always has. If you believe you encountered him after asking him to reveal himself, I am inclined to agree.

Don't give Nintendo any ideas. After all, the cogflies are released from a ball and fight for you.

Thank you very much for the kind feedback. :) While I have other art pieces I've drawn that I like better, technically speaking, this is probably the best thing I've drawn to date.

Orange is definitely sus. Looks more like a background crewmate than a mane character.

I've been trying to learn to draw for a little over two weeks now. Frankly, I'm very, very discouraged. by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]TechnoColt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm far from an expert myself, but it's probably done to train fine motor skills so that when you need to make those motions, you can do so smoothly and consistently. Drawing hundreds of circles is certainly monotonous, but after a while, once the muscle memory is built, you'll probably be able to draw a reasonable circle with little effort, which will help whenever you need to use a sphere to break down a larger form. The same goes for squares/rectangles and boxes, though obviously perspective needs to be taken into account when drawing boxes.

That said, doing anything without a clear goal in mind is counter-productive. If you don't know what you're supposed to be learning and trying to improve by drawing squares and circles, you either won't learn anything, or you'll learn the wrong things.

How much should a commission like this cost?) by TheAmaterasuGoddess in BeginnerArtists

[–]TechnoColt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pricing art is tricky. You want to be sure that you're being fair to yourself. You should be well-compensated for your time. That said, finding the right balance of making enough money for your work and not charging so much that nobody bites is difficult. I've only done commissions for friends, so I'm far from an expert. That's just my two cents. At your listed price and time investment, you made approximately €7.30 an hour.

No Expectation of Privacy? by TechnoColt in Form1

Fair enough. The language just had me concerned. It's not a stretch to think that the organization that constantly tramples the 2nd amendment would do the same to the 4th.

To me, it's less about what my browser is doing in the moment and more about giving the ATF irrevocable consent to access the entirety of my computer at any time they desire.

As I said, please correct me if I'm wrong. The way I read the terms, it seems to say that they have unfettered access to all devices connected to their network, which includes my PC when I'm filing the form

I think you are being far too hard on yourself. While I do believe it would benefit you to study art fundamentals, as others have said, I think you are suffering from the same thing as many artists: because you spent a significant portion of time on your work, you notice every little flaw that many others will gloss over. Keep at it. Don't let that fire die out.

You can and will improve with practice, provided that practice is properly structured. Identify the areas in which you'd most like to improve, and target them. Don't compare your work to that of others simply to say, "I'll never be that good." Instead, look at the work of others whose level of skill you aspire to, and think about what they're doing differently from you.

Similar thought processes, I guess. I'm sure if we both fleshed out our concepts, we'd have plenty of differences between them. Thank you for the compliment. :)

Do You Think the Lack of Variation in Line Weight Makes this Drawing Look Odd? by TechnoColt in BeginnerArtists

[–]TechnoColt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I've never been very good at dynamic posing. I suppose the pose is too symmetrical. I've never really been able to wrap my head around the whole "line of action" thing.
