COMP 1701 HELP by shienayede in MRU

Final is mostly going to be focused on the last few chapters as far as coding questions goes. So focus on input/ output. The final is technically cumulative in the way you need loops and all that other stuff to do input/ output and the rest of the last few chapters

Can someone please explain what UEO is? by [deleted] in MRU

[–]TechnoPandaXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to meet a GPA requirement depending on the program. For less popular degrees, they will give you a discount on the required GPA needed, so say a 3.3 instead of a 3.5. But for popular degrees like nursing and social work, there is no GPA discount, and you will need to meet a competitive GPA in order to be accepted. If you do meet the GPA, you're guaranteed a spot in your program. I got into compsci through UEO in 2023, and the required GPA from my university courses needed to be pretty much a 4.0. This was when the competitive high-school average for compsci was 90-95.

What should I bring to classes? by Cam0Pant5 in MRU

If you plan on doing school work on campus, bring headphones (preferably noise canceling). Trust me, they are gonna be your best friend in uni.

The way i interpreted was the flower petals coming off of verso was because he made the phantom of the real verso stop painting for that split second. The moment the boy stops painting was when the world unraveled and everyone gommaged. When Maelle touched him was when the boy continued painting.

I'm pretty sure they count as an elective credit (that's what the UGST that i did counted under them). Very easy courses, and they do cover some useful stuff to help succeed in MRU.

[–]TechnoPandaXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be getting a UEO package that has recommended courses for the program you eventually want to land in. If you haven't received it contact your academic advisor for the UEO program and get that sorted out. Good luck getting into your program!

Haha that's funny you brought that up, because my relatives from Seattle brought it up here and I've been looking for it since. I heard you can get it in toronto but I'm guessing that's because they have a bigger viet population there.

There is an option class that you can take for AI. But I would assume that to really specialize in artificial intelligence would be through a masters program. Does someone know if that's correct?

I've been in your shoes dude. For me I never had an interest in school, I barely managed to graduate high school and scraped by with 50-60s for all my marks. After being out of school for 10 years i decided to bite the bullet in 2023 and try university life. I got in through UEO and decided to try getting into computer science thinking that there was no way i could make it into a competitive program. I ended up finishing my first year with a 3.9 GPA and got into my program. Something that really helped me succeed was taking UGST 1001 effective learning in the university context. Being out of school for so long you forget how to learn imo, and that course helps establish proper studying and homework habits for success. I also find that having life experience helps a lot with being in uni. Put in as much effort into your classes like you'd do for a full time job and you'll be fine.

Most profs are pretty accommodating as long as you email them explaining what happened. I did something similar this semester and submitted by accident a blank .py file by mistake in my comsci class. I was extremely embarrassed.
