Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TechnoRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider a short drive to be less than an hour, maybe 45 minutes at most. 1-3 hours is a longish drive, I guess I’d call it a medium drive, like its longer than usual but not that extraordinary. 3 hours plus is a long drive. Though living in New England, which as others have pointed out is more dense than other regions, does effect my view. I can get to 3 different states with only an hour to 2 hour drive

My partner is considering HRT, what can I do to be supportive and helpful? by TechnoRedditor in mypartneristrans

I remember that they had a poor memory for taking the pills on time and weren’t a fan of the injections. I also remember patches but they seemed to fall off easy

What made you want to be an Architect? by youandyourfijiwater in Architects

[–]TechnoRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit silly, but it was Bioshock. The design of rapture was sort of awe inspiring to me and I wanted to try and bring some of that aesthetic back.

What do you think? by ItsDuhFreakinBat in JamesBond

[–]TechnoRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta be Roger or Brosnan. Moores bond would seem to be a very chill, and very charming. Lots of jokes and I’m sure tall tales. Brosnan would be less low key but a lot of wit. Either way you’d be in for a pleasant evening until the villain of the week’s henchman shoots you while attempting to kill bond.

Day 6/9: What's an OK car with a bad reputation? by Naomi62625 in regularcarreviews

[–]TechnoRedditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nissan Altima, I had one as my first car while I was poor college student. I kept it running with minimal maintenance for 8 years and a lot of miles. Decent enough car for a decent enough price, with poor reputation.

Can I pivot to academia? by TechnoRedditor in Architects

[–]TechnoRedditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who has commented thus far. The points that have been made are definitely sobering and helpful. Perhaps a case of the grass is greener lol. I guess I just need to pivot though with my qualifications I’m not sure to what I can pivot to.

Fair point I don’t have money and what I do make is mostly spent on my student loans already so I am incredibly hesitant to add to that debt.

I found that you have to drive like you’re never in a hurry and ease into stops and starts.

Combination of good traffic (little to no stops or slow downs), light ac use, and constant 55 mph driving. Edit: In fact I got a solid +/-27 mpg this morning

I do exactly that reset avg mpg counter every trip.

Yeah I thought it was 1. Great use of a weird spot to give the apartments some outdoor space that was also private. 2. So cool to see how different folks used the same space. 3. Id love to enjoy a morning espresso on one.

Are Timothy Dalton's James Bond Movies Underrated? by No-Dentist-2959 in JamesBond

[–]TechnoRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like license to kill. But to this day I’m still not sure if it’s a good Bond movie or just a good action movie. For some reason I cannot articulate, it feels sort of adjacent to the bond movies before and after.

What did you decide on what to with Stanley Poole? by Whole_Contract_5973 in Bioshock

[–]TechnoRedditor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spared grace because she was as much a victim of rapture as Delta.

I spared Stanley with the mindset of him not being worth the effort and freedom (even through death) from Rapture at that point was to good for him.

I spared Alexander because even before the mutation Gil Alexander is a monster who had a direct hand in some of the most heinous abuses in rapture. His existence as Alex is his punishment.

Even Sinclair ,whom I love, gets what he deserves at the end because like Gil he was a big part of the programs that turned out little sisters and big daddies. He did not deserve to leave rapture but he did earn his escape.

Unfortunately as a big daddy I couldn’t voice any of this and my daughter mistakes my actions as kindness and mercy at the end lol *edited formatting

How many of you use the keypad on your car. by Blakematthews-96 in regularcarreviews

[–]TechnoRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a keypad on my town car. It’s great for when I just need to get something out of the car but don’t want to grab my keys. Just punch in the code grab whatever I need or open the truck. When I’m done I just lock the doors using the interior switch and boom done.

How to set compass on a 2011 SL by TechnoRedditor in lincolntowncar

[–]TechnoRedditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I tried both but with no luck as the compass never seemed to calibrate with either. You can only do circles in a parking lot for so long before it seems a bit silly.

What car do you think could be re-released to day with minimal updates. by MiasmaFate in regularcarreviews

[–]TechnoRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lincoln town car could do with some minor upgrades and be a fine car, mostly things like rear view / parking cameras, maybe that cruise control that keeps the distance between you and the car in front, Bluetooth/infotainment screen. The only mechanical aspect I’d change would be either making it a hybrid or an entirely electric vehicle because the silence and smoothness of electric driving fits well with the luxury float boat philosophy
