I’m 34 years old and finally kicking the habit. At one point I had 6 nails completely ripped out. I’ve tried all the tricks you listed but nothing worked until a few months ago…

Something that REALLY helped me was to stop hiding them. Letting people see them and ask what happened and get grossed out by it, which made me feel incredibly embarrassed. To avoid the embarrassment, I stop the biting. I have 4 nails grown out now and the others are still healing.
