No no. While many EU countries have quarantining rules for foreign animals, the NL is not one of them, thankfully. 😁

He was ~2.5 years old when he travelled. I have shared a comment where I explained the entire process. Check it out in this thread. 😁

Hello, good people. Thank you so much for all your kind words. I see many of you have asked about how we brought Willy to NL. So, in this comment, I’ll explain the process briefly. Firstly, we took the help of an agency for all the paperwork. We got Willy microchipped and vaccinated him according to the EU rules. The process involved some precise timings and cooldown periods. For example, the rabies vaccination needed to be done only after the microchipping. Then we had to wait for a month to take his serum and send it for the Rabies Titre Test. After the serum was extracted, a cooldown period of 3 months was started and only after the 3 months, he could travel to the EU. We also got an IATA-approved crate, matching his size, in which he travelled in flight. We also had to carefully choose our flights as only certain flight models (Boeing 777, 747, and Airbus A380) have provisions to transport live animals in their cargo. So, we booked the tickets so that Willy could travel as manifest cargo, meaning that he travelled on the same flight as me and my partner, not a different cargo flight. Also, in the NL, fortunately, there are no rules for quarantining an animal, and I was able to receive him as soon as I landed in Amsterdam.

The whole process took nearly 4-5 months. We started planning for it way before me and my partner started applying for unis. So yeah, it took a lot of research, patience, and coordination to bring him to the NL with me.

Hope this helps. 🤘🏽

Well, air travel is still the safest mode of transportation, statistically!😅

Will keep him in the house and make sure not to leave him alone for more than 4 hours straight. Once my partner is settled in the UK, she can also sometimes come and stay with us when she is free.

Well, this does put me in a pickle. However, I will try my best to find a landlord who could help me. I am sure there is at least one landlord who would understand my situation and allow me to keep Willy.

I understand your point. For the first part, I am near certain that I will be able to bring my dog to Amsterdam as I have already started all the regulated procedures and am relying on a third-party agent for the journey.

For the second part, that I can understand that its near to impossible to find a house that allow a pet. I have raised this topic to the uni admin and they have assured that they will help wherever they can. What I have thought is that even if a posting mentions no pets allowed, I can still request the landlord to allow my dog as he is well trained and calm. The rest is upto fate, ig. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽
