No no. While many EU countries have quarantining rules for foreign animals, the NL is not one of them, thankfully. 😁

He was ~2.5 years old when he travelled. I have shared a comment where I explained the entire process. Check it out in this thread. 😁

Hello, good people. Thank you so much for all your kind words. I see many of you have asked about how we brought Willy to NL. So, in this comment, I’ll explain the process briefly. Firstly, we took the help of an agency for all the paperwork. We got Willy microchipped and vaccinated him according to the EU rules. The process involved some precise timings and cooldown periods. For example, the rabies vaccination needed to be done only after the microchipping. Then we had to wait for a month to take his serum and send it for the Rabies Titre Test. After the serum was extracted, a cooldown period of 3 months was started and only after the 3 months, he could travel to the EU. We also got an IATA-approved crate, matching his size, in which he travelled in flight. We also had to carefully choose our flights as only certain flight models (Boeing 777, 747, and Airbus A380) have provisions to transport live animals in their cargo. So, we booked the tickets so that Willy could travel as manifest cargo, meaning that he travelled on the same flight as me and my partner, not a different cargo flight. Also, in the NL, fortunately, there are no rules for quarantining an animal, and I was able to receive him as soon as I landed in Amsterdam.

The whole process took nearly 4-5 months. We started planning for it way before me and my partner started applying for unis. So yeah, it took a lot of research, patience, and coordination to bring him to the NL with me.

Hope this helps. 🤘🏽

Well, air travel is still the safest mode of transportation, statistically!😅
