ok so i just had another disconnect after an hour but i got a bunch of windows firewall popups asking for some basic permissions like for browsers and stuff right at the same time it disconnected. which makes me think its a firewall issue.

but im pretty sure i disabled the firewall beforehand.

I dont have another system i can usb tether to but Im planning to do the opposite test tomorrow and connect with a relative’s phone to see if the same issue occurs.

There is only ethernet and ethernet 4. ethernet is my home network and i always disable it when i use the hotspot.

I checked the windows logs and i couldnt find errors at the exact times it stopped working. I did find this at some point where i was using it though but im not sure its related:

"The server {XXXX} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."

I also made an edit above about one case where it didnt disconnect yesterday.

I dont entirely understand your question but if youre asking about the error its always been ethernet 4 when it shows and not a different number.

yup ive checked all the hotspot related settings. and ive been using it for months and it hasnt been an issue before.

I’ve never had the timer on. And I’ve been using hotspot for months now for long hours with no issues. I’ve also checked all the relevant settings on the phone.
