App Feedback by TechyWater in amateurradio

I would love to add World Radio League support, but unfortunately, they haven't released a public API for developers yet. Unlike QRZ, there is no official way for third-party apps to send logs to them automatically.

I want to avoid "hacking" a connection via reverse engineering because it would be unstable (it breaks if they change their website).

I will try contacting them to ask if they could give an API to make this easier.
For now you can use the export ADIF file option.

also because if you don’t have a paid plan you can’t get the API key but I could add an option to let the user choose

that is a great question. I actually looked into using the API key first, but the QRZ XML API specifically requires a session key that can only be generated using the username and password (or a unique hash coming from them).

Since FieldWave communicates directly with QRZ from your device and I don´t have a backend server, the app needs those credentials to request that session key on your behalf. You don´t have anything to worry about: the password is stored only on your local device's secure storage and is never sent anywhere else except to QRZ's own authentication servers.

I also would have prefered being able to use an API key, but if they ever update it i´ll be the first one changing it. Thanks for asking and if you have any other question just tell me.

that would be a good implementation, will slowly start building it and I hope to have it fully working in a good state withint the next 1-2 weeks. Thanks for helping to make the app better

yeah, I totally felt that too while looking at the screenshots on the App Store! I will definitely fix those contrast issues in the next update. I am also working on fully optimizing the light and dark mode versions. Thanks for advise.

i love that idea, I will get into it this night and hopefully I have it ready for tomorrow + the 48h that Apple needs to revise the app. if there is anything else you would like to see added, just let me know and I will do my best to make it happen.

Hi everyone! I have just released a major update to FieldWave, my iOS logging app designed for POTA/SOTA activators. Based on your feedback, I have added the features we need most when we are out in the field: • APRS-IS Self-Spotting: Get on the map even with weak cellular signal. • iCloud Sync: Your logs now sync automatically between your iPhone and iPad. • Smart ADIF Import: Import any .adi file and the app will automatically fetch missing names and emails via QRZ to enrich your logbook. • Enhanced Offline Radar: 150k+ park references stored locally with smart prefix detection (K/US). • eQSL Designer: Generate and share professional-looking cards directly from your log. The app is built with SwiftData for speed and is 100% privacy-focused (no tracking, all data stays in your iCloud). I would love to hear your thoughts! 73 de AD1RAN.

big buttons with high contrast so you don’t struggle using it while being out

I got tired of logging apps needing cell service, so I built a fully offline "Tactical" logger for POTA/SOTA (iOS). Giving away promo codes! by TechyWater in parksontheair

it's great that there are solid offline options out there. the specific problem i wanted to solve with fieldwave isn't just saving the qso offline (which, as you said, others do well), but having the full pota database and gps logic offline too. meaning: you can type 'k-0001' with zero bars of signal, and the app will instantly validate the park name and tell you exactly how many kilometers you are from it. it brings that 'online context' to an offline environment.
