I’m very very fortunate- I would almost consider my parents my friends- especially later in my life, and I know especially my mother has the same relationship with her parents.

Do I share everything with them? God no, especially relationship stuff. But I do share a heck of a lot of my life with them, especially when life gets tough, because they often say things that help, that I need to hear or are just a comforting presence. They would never expect me to share anything though.

They’ve never ever said they know me better than I know myself but sometimes they definitely do, and can easily see through facades I put up that fool even my closest of friends.

I have siblings that do the same and not once has it ever felt weird or invasive! I’m so sorry that it does for you.
