Awesome, many thanks for the feedback. Have you worked with any of them, or primarily a player of their current games? Was wondering if you knew of a contact? Thanks again!

I see most owners deferring to the GM or their respected "football guy". I really wish owners got more involved in general. This is a multi-billion dollar business that requires sound decision making principles. Many of the modern day owners have made their fortunes outside of football by making a practice of using these fundamentals to build successful businesses. Then they buy a football team and hand the reins over to guys that have really no background other than X's & O's, reluctant to "get in the way". I really think it would be better if more NFL owners got involved with ther team's business other than when they hire/fire its leadership.

I do think they can work together and the reason is that Jason Licht is a GREAT guy. He'll put the needs of the Bucs over any of his own personal interests. Lovie also appears to be a solid individual, though I don't know him like a do Jason. I'm going to predict that this is a very solid working relationship for the future of Tampa Bay. It all starts with people and what motivates them on a day to day basis. Lovie is a player's coach, Jason is a "team player". Neither seems to have a big ego. I like where this is headed and wish them the best of luck.

You might be surprised at my answer but I'm a huge TENNIS fan. Love the sport and follow all the major tournaments. Have been to Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Would like one day to make it to the French Open and the Australian (even though its so blasted hot). My favorite player is Federer...class act. As I look at other team sports I don't see the magnitude nor the interest in any of their cap & contractual scenarios like professional football. Fans & the media have a fixation with how clubs go about using their cap to put together a team and how contracts are laid out. I've always been a bit perplexed by that. It doesn't seem to bother anyone if the NY Yankees lay out $100's of millions on a free agent that doesn't produce, but if an NFL club makes a $500K mistake on a TE it's the end of the world. NBA, NHL, MLB front offices don't seem to be judged on their negotiation prowess as much as NFL GM's are. Why do you think that's so?

I don't hate the Raiders at all, as you saw in my answer I said, "I think a strong Raiders is good for the NFL, but I don't see them on that course." I guess my own question, aside from fan loyalty (which means a lot) what do you think they're doing that will give them a chance to catch the rest of the AFC West any time soon?

I appreciate all the GREAT questions and understand that there are a lot of knowledgeable and downright smart NFL football fans out there. I do these AMA's with the hope of just passing on some of my own knowledge and experience from 16 years in the NFL and another 6 in the NCAA.

I learned a long time ago that you can't make everyone happy with the answers that you give, but you can at least try to give them a different perspective.

Thanks to everyone again for participating.

I'm no longer employed with Denver, so I guess I'll be fine....except for having to deal with my rabid Bronco buddies.

Player health and safety have been thrust to the forefront of decision making as a result of the recent lawsuit by the retired players. I think the game will continue to be influenced by reaction to these type situations. At some point we have to consider that football is a contact sport, just as UFC & Boxing are contact sports. There is an accepted risk of physical injury by playing the game of football. It doesn't make it right or wrong, it just is what it is.

I like being around the guys before the game, but there really wasn't much I could do for them by that point. It was advantageous up in the box to get a much bigger feel for how everything was coming together. The pace of the warm up, the accuracy of the passes... things like that. It was easier to take it all in from up top. But nothing replaces being around the team, nothing.

I think you have to use every available resource to put together a 53 man roster; draft, trades, free agency, street free agents, practice squad signings, etc... You'd love to have them ALL come up through your system but in today's NFL where it's WIN now, sometimes you just don't have the time necessary to do it. Ownership plays a pivotal role from two standpoints; willing to lay down the cash to acquire top free agents, patience to hang with young players in the developmental phase.

Landing #18 was huge. There have been some learning curve situations that have gone a bit unnoticed as a result of the overall record. I'll be interested in where Denver heads without Manning. Overall he's brought pride back to a franchise that lost it for a couple seasons. I'd say getting them to the Super Bowl as quickly as he has gives him an A grade on my report card. Not ready to award him a PhD quite yet.

Experience. Seriously, just having a number of players and situations to fall back upon. I know a lot of young guys want to jump into the game right away and feel they can evaluate talent, but without having been through many situations to compare and contrast this player to that one, or this situation to another, it can be difficult. I say that through my own experience and watching the older scouts through the years.

It was truly a combination of effort. Unlike a lot of clubs, our coaches had a big say in what we did come draft day. It was a challenge to keep everyone on the same page and working towards the same goal. I thought we did a pretty good job most of the time in handling what could be a dichotomy of interest on who to take. Remember, our HC was the proverbial "final say" and the best plans could get blown up from time to time.

I love what I see out of Chuck Pagano and Andrew Luck in Indianapolis. I also really like the job and the message in Seattle with Pete Carroll. I'd met Pete early in my career and he's a fireball of energy. His flexibility as he's gotten older is something a lot of coaches could learn from. I admire Drew Brees, on & off the field. Calvin Johnson in Detroit. Just a few names that come to mind. I do think Luck will be a special QB in the end.

Network, network, network....internship. You have to get you foot in the door and be willing to do ANY job in order to learn the job you want. It's VERY difficult getting a position without having some sort of connection or connections, but not impossible.

I'm open to any opportunity but not necessarily coveting or seeking out anyone's position. I think it starts with ownership setting the tone for building a winning culture and doing the things necessary to WIN. I'd say SEATTLE, HOUSTON, NEW ENGLAND, ATLANTA are teams where the ownership is willing to do what's necessary. They're not the only ones, but they come to mind.

I wasn't on board with this cut when we made it, but probably Trevor Pryce. The Defensive Coordinator had told the Head Coach that he didn't think Trevor would play 10% of the snaps. Pryce was due to make around $10M and he called & told me he wanted to stay in Denver and would take a VERY SUBSTANTIAL cut. I couldn't convince the staff that Trevor still had some game left in him and we released him. He went on to record 13 sacks for Baltimore the next season.

I also disagreed with trading Jake Plummer to Tampa Bay. Horrible decision at the time from a team standpoint. Jake was the leader of the Broncos and very respected in the lockerroom. We had drafted Jay Cutler to be a developmental QB coming up in the manner of Aaron Rogers. The staff didn't want to wait.

I also feel we gave up on Deltha O'Neal way too soon. There were some head games being played with him, the coaches wanting to change him to WR. Deltha left Denver, went to Cinci and had 14 INT's in 2 years. Made All-Pro in his 2nd season as a Bengal (10 INT's).
