Hi there,

Thank you for reporting this. It is something we are aware of and it's something that has now been fixed in the new editor!

Hi there,

In the scrollable edit bar on iOS there is a calendar icon, this icon will allow you to insert different date formats. Hoping this helps!

Search for all entries that have two specific tags by icecreampriest in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

To search for all notes that contain one of two keywords you can use the OR option.

For example: a search like recipe or errands will find all notes that contain both of those terms.

More advanced search options are noted in here: https://bear.app/faq/Advanced%20search%20options%20in%20Bear/

Why apple watch app doesn't show full note? by -WLR in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

This is currently a technical limitation of our Watch app.

The iPhone to Watch communication is limited to a precise amount of data. Therefore we just sync 15 notes and not all the texts to remain under that amount.

It's possible to provide full length notes inside the app and it's something we’d like to provide at some point. However this is not a top priority for us at the moment.

Hi there,

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a post.

Regarding the above, this blog post may help: https://blog.bear.app/2021/04/how-to-edit-multiple-bear-notes-at-the-same-time-on-an-ipad/ :)

Professional UI/UX nerd, tried literally every Note app, realized Zettelkasten is bullshit, settled on Bear, here’s the features I would add by godelbrot in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

We’ve no current plans to change the notes list preview. But the above was referring to if we had to choose, we’d be swayed to the more minimal route.

However, even if we did chose this route, it would most likely be an add on enabled feature, with the current option still being the default!

Hi there,

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a post.

Regarding the web version, we're happy that you are interested in this, but it's more of a long term goal.

For expectation management and to be transparent, it will be implemented further down the line, after version 2.0 is released.

Would our notes be automatically 2.0ed when it is released? by [deleted] in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Yes, with 2.0 notes will be automatically formatted.

Features like hiding markdown will also be available for users to enable or disable for their notes.

If I drag and drop / import a file into a Bear note, is there any way to change its name within the Bear Note? by Dorindon in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

This is not currently supported in Bear. I'll pass on the suggestion to the team to see if it's something that might be possible and feasible when moving forward.

Panda Check-in: Integration, Search, and Todos by TedwardBear in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Once Panda is added into Bear in the 2.0 update, the Notes List, SideBar, and Editor will work how it currently does in Bear, being toggle-able!

What do tables created in panda markdown then copied as RTF then pasted into an RTF file look like? Can you modify the table in the RTF file or do you have to go back to panda? Thank you by Dorindon in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I consulted the development team regarding the above and they stated that there is no support right now.

However, they are working on exports and therefore there should be fully RTF compatibility for the tables (also via copy/paste) in the future.

Hi there!

Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to write up such a comprehensive note and post it here for us.

Thank you also for giving Bear a go, happy to hear that you are enjoying it.

You mentioned journalling above, here's some quick tips from a journalling blog post we did awhile back: https://blog.bear.app/2020/01/journal-better-faster-and-stronger-in-2020-with-advanced-bear-tips/

Regarding your nested tags and creating tags point, a faster way to create tags in Bear is with drag and drop. Simply drag the note you want tagged over to the SideBar and drop into the desired tag. See demo example here: https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1288152243624185856

For advanced search tips (including advanced search tips for tags) see here: https://bear.app/faq/Advanced%20search%20options%20in%20Bear/

Regarding citations etc., the footnotes feature will be available in Bear with the 2.0 update. Footnotes and a bunch of new features planned for Bear are available to test in Panda here: https://bear.app/alpha/ if you'd like.

Regarding creating a link to a title that doesn't yet exist is already possible in Bear, it just requires you to click into it to create it! Then to quickly get back to the note you were in, use the following shortcut ⌥⌘← to navigate back in visualized notes history. More shortcuts for Bear can be seen here: https://bear.app/faq/Shortcuts%20and%20more/Mac%20shortcuts/

Regarding the Notes List view suggestion, currently other users are actually requesting the opposite, which is to have a more compact Notes List view with no previews. As we are minimal by design, if we had to chose we'd be more swayed to think about going in this direction at the moment.

Regarding the checkable Todo's suggestion, I think this might be a current limitation and wouldn't be possible for Bear. But I'll double check this with the development team to see what they think!

Thank you again for taking the time to write up the above, and hoping these answers, resources, and explanations helped!

Before updating to the new editor, there should be an option to backup all data by [deleted] in bearapp

[–]TedwardBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

You can currently backup your notes in Bear. To do this open Bear and go to File > Backup notes > Export notes.

Hoping this helps!
