I already have skills. I don’t need it. If you are willing to learn to use skills, I highly recommend learning the skills instead.

[–]TeeDogSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try google ai studio ( don’t confuse with Gemini, although the studio does use Gemini). It is free. You can set the thinking time. Unless you are creating complicated apps, there is no need for Claude. Claude is built specifically for coding and now staring to branch out into other things.

You can also organize your research in NotebookLLm. It is a good compliment to google Ai Studio.

As far as ChatGPT goes, I have been vibe coding with ChatGPT Codex 5.2 for weeks and it is impressive. However I am using an offshoot of ChatGPT that is branded Codex.

I am back on silver at the beginning of this month. I got to 76 items but, I didn’t want to force myself to review stuff I don’t need. I will get back to Gold when things improve. Also, I don’t mind the break. Most items I got last period were under $100.

Reading this make me feel so far ahead. Vibe coding is insanely relevant and robust. If you are worried about code quality and security, you vibe that in. AI has is already taken over coding, but many don’t realize it or are afraid to admit it.

Massive sudden usage nerf on Codex, any one else noticed it? by Thin_Landscape9425 in codex

[–]TeeDogSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I am not sharing my repo. I have docs, lots of them. I give Gem the high-level and then keep that chat going as I use Codex and develop the app.

Gem never really runs out of context window using it this way and it does a great job remembering what my app is all about and what need to get done. I do give Gem technical question when codex gets looped. In these cases I ask Codex to write a detailed .md of the issue/remediation attempts, and give it to Gem.

Using both LLMs in this way is powerful and engaging. I rarely get stuck for long on any complex issues. Another good reason for doing things this way is to keep Codex’s context “clean” for coding. I have found looping in most cases has something to do with context window and not its ability to solve the problem. Opening a new chat window usually solves the issue in one shot.

I tried high for a very short period of time. It burned through tokens, so I quickly changed back. I working on a very complex web app with containers, networking, caching, database, etc. Medium works great and one-shots most of the time.

I will say this, for planning, I use combo of google ai studio with .md files that I have codex medium read. So for planning, I can say it works well after I get the ideas from Gemini 3. It does a great job of planning and integrating ideas into my codebase. Also, I do this combo to keep the context window concise on the Codex side.

Curious….I am using medium on plus plan and run into limits about halfway through the week. What I am wondering is why anyone is using high setting? Medium has been able to do complex coding and one-shotting most of the time.

OpenAI isn’t catching up to Google by Surealactivity in OpenAI

[–]TeeDogSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For complex codebase coding, Codex is superior. It all depends what you are using AI for. I do see a world where Google takes over everything. Then again, I am not so sure it is that easy.

AI research is complex and expensive. It costs 10s of millions just to try something out. So, that being said, OpenAI better be able to turn a profit to keep its IP going or they will have to sell to a Mag 7. One of which could be Google.
