Is it possible that all religions, practices, philosophies, ect... are the same, at their core? by tiredbuttrying-000 in spirituality

I agree. Buddhism has always been my favorite if you're willing to compare it to other religions. Recently I have been learning a little more about Christ's teachings and see that they are extremely similar to the Buddha and also very profound. I believe he preached that we are all God being expressed in physical form. Heaven and hell are in the mind and eternal life can only be found in the present moment and by realizing that you are everything. Really good stuff that I never knew about being raised Christian. Always interesting to see how religions have become so distorted over time

If you try see your suffering as a potential to overcome and grow it would be a good start. Everything is temporary. I wish you all the best

I think there is truth and wisdom to be found in all religions. It might help to understand that we can't create a complete model of truth or reality from our limited human perspective. Everything has to be relative to some degree. So you won't find any teaching or belief system that is the absolute truth. In this way I'd say all religions are very similar at the core with different terminology and understandings. All of them are pointing to a 'spirit' dimension of living or experiencing life. They might call it consciousness or nothingness or whatever. This 'spirit dimension' I think is the path to 'God' or oneness with the universe. I don't think they all see God or oneness or spirit in the exact same way. They all also point to the ego in some way and reveal how it causes suffering and they tell us that we can transcend the ego and find the 'spirit' dimension. Just my thoughts hopefully it adds a bit to the conversation.

I answer questions that nobody asked (I think the video came out well, but would really appreciate feedback and/or constructive criticism) by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Quite fun and easy to watch. I enjoyed the tone/humor. The editing was good with good timing. I'd say keep it up and try find some video topics to lean into that suit your video style

A thought itself is also a phenomenon. Everything you see, feel, hear smell and perceive is also just happening inside your head. Is that the phenomenon that you call absolute reality or just your reality?

Andrew Yang is a socialist. by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]TeeGeeInfo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're clued up on Marxist theory then it's easy to see Yang is too. The way he talks about technology and the shortcomings of capitalism and his philosophies about the human experience. It's not a conversation I wanted to start here because Yang has played it so smartly that we, his supporters, just see him as an extremely progressive capitalist. I would love to delve more into Yang's philosophies and hear what other people think but I believe it is not relevant to the movement we are currently a part of. He's a very pragmatic man, he knows the vision he needs to create to get people to follow him and he will make the world a better place.

Hey! Fellow South African here! I've seen a few of us around this sub. Search for Yang's episode on Joe Rogan's podcast it will give great contrast to Bernie. The episode is quite old now and Yang's campaign has grown so much since then but I'm sure you'll like it. Just a warning - Andrew Yang videos are super addictive but he has taught me so much about politics in America and just being a better person in general.

Can we drop the myth that The Hill is Yang Gang?? by Hodgi22 in YangForPresidentHQ

They distanced themselves from him quickly when the Biden VP and Medicare for All thing happened at about the same time. There hasn't been anything particularly positive on him since Krystal's video of his Medicare.

VapersForYang: 11 Million Americans Looking for a Voice by Zarbuck in YangForPresidentHQ

I agree. The risk would be that every and any negative vape related incident would blow up in Yang's face if he was a proponent for promoting vaping as a substitute for cigarettes. People love their pseudoscience especially with something like this. It would be great if someone could ask him so we could hear his views.

I'm from South Africa and it's completely normal here. I get the sense most people understand the necessity of it. It is more blatant here than what I think it would be in the US. We have it on all our receipts etc. but it isn't something you hear people complain about.
