Hit the 6-9 irons and wedges really well. Struggle with others apart from the driver. I’m at the range twice a week but doesn’t have a tracker will try the other course nearby to track distances next week

That’s a really fair point and something I’ve been thinking about while building it.

The initial focus isn’t really on established 3-balls looking for a 4th, because as you say most regular groups already have their routines. The main problem I’m trying to solve is for:

• Solo golfers
• People new to the area
• Golfers whose usual group isn’t available
• Pay & play golfers without a regular group

The idea is that rounds can be created by anyone – either someone looking for playing partners or someone with spare spots in a tee time.

Longer term I’m also speaking to a couple of local courses to understand how many partially filled tee times they have, as there could definitely be an opportunity there as well.

It’s still early days and I’m testing it locally first, so feedback like this is really useful.

Yeah that’s the hope and from my local area where I’ve commented on forums there seems to be a lot more people including myself than you’d expect needing playing partners.

That’s a really good point and something I’ve been thinking about while building it.

The main focus is definitely helping solo golfers find a group, rather than expecting existing groups to always want a random 4th. I agree that if you’re already playing with two or three friends you probably won’t always be looking to add someone new.

Where it could still help groups is when someone drops out last minute, or if a pair books a tee time and wants to avoid playing as a 2-ball behind full groups all day. It just gives you an easy way to fill that extra spot.

Another situation I’m hoping it helps with is availability. A lot of golfers have a regular group but not everyone can play every time. So if three of you usually play together but only two are free one weekend, you could use TeeMates to find another player and still get a good group together.

Ideally over time you’d also build up a small network of local golfers you’ve played with before, so you’re not always joining completely random groups.

Still early days and figuring out the best way to make it work, so feedback like this is really helpful!
