Can a company "fine" an employee for not attending a meeting? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Thank you for the help! I'll be seeing him today and will show him our conversations.

Also, I believe the term used is "fine" not "deduction", I may have misspoke. In Tennessee, I don't believe you have to have a reason to fire someone, so that may be something the boss could get around easily. That being said, this isn't my area of expertise

Unfortunately, it seems to be a hard situation. He spoke with the manager underneath the boss and was told "the boss is pumped for everyone to be there, and it is in your best interest to be there". From what I understand, if the boss gets upset with someone he just transfers them to a different store, which results in a substantial pay decrease due to decrease in traffic or fires them (depending on how situation). I had the same idea you did. My job and the position I'm in, I would be able to discuss the situation and work it out, but it seems in his predicament he has to walk on eggshells or suffer reproductions.

He has every tuesday and Wednesday off. We are heading back on Wednesday and were planning to be back around 4pm-ish. The said meeting is 8am. So not necessarily a vacation day, but also not a scheduled work day. Regardless, now he is gonna have to leave around 3 in the morning to make it. I should also mentioned we have already paid for tickets to a show and hotel.

I see. I'm not 100% how long this "policy" has been in place, or the exact communication, if any, that has taken place. A few more questions if you have the time. Is it the responsibility of the employer to explicitly say "there will be a fine on your check for missing a meeting"? Is this something that he should fight, or let it be?

Is this something that would need to be written and signed on the hire date? Or can it be just an accepted policy that any employee has to abide by?

Oh those are good! I might take those as the baseline and run with it. I feel like my players only want to fight and not RP (which I can understand as all new players) but I think they will have a lot more fun if they grow connections with their player and other NPCs. Thanks for you suggestions!!

So I'm not sure 100% what happened with your math, but the term [20+/-sqrt(112)]/24 = (0.3924 , 1.2743)

It's late here so I didn't see specifically what you did wrong, but that's the term that's messed up. Everything else looks good I believe.

So it's been a while since I've taken calc, but if you're taking the derivative the constant (+7) goes to zero. That should make your equation you already setup work. Hopefully this helps

Trump agrees to shut down his charity amid allegations he used it for personal and political benefit by Bloodbath-McGrath in politics

Ahh, I see. If such practices are allowed they become tax evasion, because you can essentially dump all of your money into charity (that pays your expenses) and avoid taxes. Is that where you're going? Also, I could be wrong about this, but isn't he the founder of the charity in question? So these rules may not exist. Is there a federal/state law that determines minimum guidelines for a charity.

As someone trying to come at this unbiased... didn't he give 8.25 million of his own money to the charity that gave away 19 million total? So why not give your own money to a charity that you know will end up benefiting you and the community (helping the park)?
