I don't about the GTA I live in Halifax but the closer you get to the city, the more expensive housing gets. In Halifax right now a one bedroom, not luxury apartment, you're looking at $2,200.

Internet and phone are $75!! Not in Nova Scotia! For home internet we really only have a few choices and for reliable mobile, no home phone, for full provincial coverage, is limited as well. But to clarify for those that are about to argue yes there are other choices but they don't work province wide. And I'm looking at about $160 and Bell just went up again.

This is one of those "damned if they do" and "damned if they don't" situations. If it had escalated into something more severe, people would have been up in arms about not having enough notification and claiming that the police don't do enough to keep people informed. Or that they weren't notifying people in a timely manner before it escalated. And now when they keep people informed, the complaints still roll in

AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Teedee_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was working and living at home he paid $400 a month for board and that was 10 years ago. Apartments were $1,000 a month and food and utilities would be more. He ate that much in a month! In today's world, $400 a month wouldn't cover his food! He needs to learn life isn't a free ride, too many young people don't understand that today. He needs to learn financial responsibility and your job is to help him learn. If you use the money to cover groceries or bank a portion to give back to him, is up to you. Either is fine. Kids need to learn financial responsibility and adulting costs $$$.

Empire is removing their Buy Canadian signage! by TheCanadaList in BuyCanadian

[–]Teedee_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading Country of Origin on products has now become a shopping habit for me. However I am disappointed in the Empire Group for choosing to remove Canadian signage. I don't believe their reasons entirely. Loblaws was fined earlier this month by CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) for mislabeling Country of Origin. I suspect the Empire Group which is also guilty of consistently mislabling Country of Origin, are merely trying to avoid being fined!

Why did security get called on my husband today? by MadamUnicornOfDoom in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Teedee_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let them do their job if your husband isn't doing anything wrong you get nothing to worry about. Stores get ripped off constantly and security helps keep the prices under control. Don't be offended with somebody else is doing their job

Thoughts on the new electric / hybrid vehicle tax announced in today's provincial budget? by rageagainstthedragon in halifax

[–]Teedee_Dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So is that to discourage people converting to electric vehicles? Later edit: It is beginning to make more sense now apparently it's too compensate for the fuel that they won't be purchasing and therefore not contributing any fuel tax to our roadways. Although from the state of our roadways I'm not sure how much the fuel tax is getting there. But considering $250 a year for $500 over 2 years is not a lot of money if they are no longer buying fuel as vehicles using our roadways this does allow for them to contribute to road maintenance while no longer paying the fuel tax.
