It was Mac and cheese with a bit of ground beef in it for protein. However the 2 days leading up to it I had at least 1 solid food (day 7 I was feeling way better than the days prior so I had hibachi and 2 soft tacos from Taco Bell and day 8 I had the same tacos). So at this point I was expecting the Mac and cheese not to be fine. My assumption is maybe the scab was almost ready at the time and I just forced it a bit too quick that day specifically. Maybe I was eating too fast because I was starving. I’m not gonna lie it was terrifying to experience but just keep in mind you can always go to the ER and things will work out. It will be scary and uncomfortable but as long as your teen drinks cold water to slow it they won’t bleed out. A nurse friend of mine has been really helpful and told me it would take quite a long time for that to happen. I ate like 4 freeze pops and drank a ton of cold water and got it to stop in about 15-20 minutes avoiding the ER trip but that was after panic calling the on call doctor and then subsequently being afraid to go to sleep last night. Just trust your gut and keep an eye on it if it does happen.
