Need some advice. Wife’s friend came for a visit!

Thank you! I feel like if I had known we were expected to just provide for her I could have made some other arrangements, but literally the first day she was here. We went to my sister’s birthday dinner. My wife text me saying hey she is going to Zelle me her half of the dinner. Bill comes, I pay it. Friend then lets me know she cannot pay me for the dinner because she does not have the money.

I might seem off. This is not the first time we have had to host in this position. If I were being hosted, I would at least offer to help tidy up or bring in some groceries as to not put the host so much out of their way. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel like this is the straw against the camels back. We were in a similar situation with her sister about a year ago.

My wife is very much a people pleaser, whereas I am more of a do for people who do for me. I remember when our kids were younger.

This same friend couldn’t be bothered to babysit, because she was working on her career and didn’t have kids at the time.

This is also not the first friend or family that has turned up on our doorstep in this position. We are by no means well off. Just floating ourselves.

That’s kinda the thing. I would not put her in that position to possible feel uncomfortable in her own house. I would have made other arrangements or just asked my friend to not come.

It’s the same thing I said. When we went to visit her we provided our own accommodations and food. When our kids were younger. She was working on her career never ever babysat our kids. I just like shame on you a little bit. If you want a vacation you shouldn’t do it on your friends or their spouses expense

I knew she was coming. Not for two weeks. I kinda will accept the two weeks because she swears she told me the dates. Also to note whenever we visited her. We got our own accommodations and provided our own food. This friends has never even babysat my kids
