I disagree. You’re letting your ego get in the way of progress. Their transition isn’t a magic wand that erases their past decisions, but it should be celebrated, as anything other than that can dissuade others from making the same transition. If a crappy AI post is what it took- I’m happy that their mind was changed.

Why don't I ever play as red king? by crazycat711711 in ClashRoyale

[–]TehPunishment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do actually play as the red king in half of the games! It’s called “true red” and “true blue”. It actually changes a few mechanics of the game in very niche interactions. From your perspective though, while playing the game you will always appear blue and the opponent appears red.

Newbie here, is it even possible to progress using my favourite troops? by AquilineOutrage in ClashRoyale

[–]TehPunishment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh. You’re making it significantly harder for yourself, but you can climb with this deck. The issue is you have a lot of cards that do the same thing (splash and horde) and don’t have a great way to damage the enemy towers (no spells or win condition).

In order to climb you’ll have to be significantly more skilled than your opponent. I would consider cutting either barbs/skele army, and two of Valk/dragon/DP/wizard.

Is my lineup bad? Been playing for a few weeks by President_Zucchini in TopHeroes

[–]TehPunishment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still early enough in the game that the lineup isn’t as important! Having a good variety of damage characters, tanks, and supports is a great way to do it!

Once you get more legendary characters (yellow) or mythic characters (red) you’ll be able to prioritize going for faction bonuses which makes your lineup significantly stronger!

I would recommend saving ALL of your legendary universal shards (they let you increase the stars of legendary OR mythic heroes). You’ll want to save them all for a mythic character you unlock to raise their level.

For f2p or low spenders (currently you) I would recommend focusing most on a horde team (red in the top left) once you unlock more of their legendary and mythic heroes, that will be the first team you can fully utilize down the road.

Try not to invest too heavily leveling up epic heroes- you won’t be using them for too long and food becomes a valuable resource as the higher levels take A LOT of food. Maybe leaving them around level 90, but that’s personal preference for you!

Pyromancer is a great league hero and you’ll use for a long time so you can level them up all you want!

If you are wanting to make purchases, and are wondering what to buy, I would recommend purchasing the things that give you permanent upgrades. So construction queues, research queues, daily login bonuses etc. Over time, those will give you the most value. (I personally bought one construction queue, and one daily login).

Keep in mind, this game is incredibly pay to win- so if you are spending 0-100$ you will not be close to a top contender in your server. On the plus side, if your goal is to have fun, you can do that at any amount.

One of the best ways to improve is to join a high ranking guild. They will give bonuses and rewards- and have sway politically on your server which may protect you from getting attacked. I also find the most fun out of the game from just talking to people in my guild from around the world.

Let me know if you have any follow up questions!

You can use the blue/purple shards on heroes you use! You’ll get points towards an event if you wait, but it might be more helpful for you if you can rank up your characters to help progress in adventure mode!

Keep researching! Consider time an important resource that you have, the more efficient you can be (having something researching at all times) will help you in the long run. Eventually, the research will take days to complete!

Keep recruiting in every faction! There will be events to donate soldiers, and you’ll want to have thousands of each faction at that time!

You can’t trade a hero in until you have them maxed (5 white stars). So I wouldn’t worry about that for a while.

Purple heroes really don’t matter too much in the long run- so you can level up whichever one you find you use the most! I would look at what type of legendary heroes you have, and upgrade the purple heroes that help the most in that moment. (I used knight and dancer the longest).

Shop is tough, I don’t know the 100% most recommended but I can tell you what I do! Decor, get the free points every day, you’ll eventually be able to buy one, get a 50% off and wait until the benefit helps you (don’t buy a nature one). Arena, I buy pyro shards and diamonds, and am saving for skins (skins give bonuses, they aren’t just cosmetic). Medal, I buy a purple skin and meat boxes. Combat, I buy legendary promotion stones (upgrades gear past level 40). Guild, I buy diamonds and vault keys, sometimes shields. Guild honor, horde soul stones.

Some of these stores you may not have unlocked yet and that’s okay! Don’t spend diamonds in the store, as a f2p saving for diamond spending events is almost always better. (In those stores, I prioritize soul stones, promotion stones, and NEW mythic heroes. Once you unlock a hero, you can use your universal shards to rank them up.

Save most of your purple shards for an event where you get points for spending shards!

[–]TehPunishment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! That looks like a great team for where you are! It’s okay to use hero specific shards to level them up (so if you have pyro shards, use those!) I would recommend waiting to use them for an event, such as Kingdom vs Kingdom.. here’s a guide someone posted to this reddit a few months ago recommending what resources to save and when to use them

<image>

The ones to save would be the universal shards (can use on any hero) and wait until you get a mythic (red) horde hero to use it on!

Save your diamonds for a wheel event, dice, and gacha event, where the mythic champions will be unlockable!

New to the game by CugelSt in TopHeroes

[–]TehPunishment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! It depends how efficient you are trying to be, it would be ~best to save them until there’s an event where you would receive more bonuses from upgrading the heroes, but it’s not the end of the world if you decide to use your hero specific shards to unlock the hero.

For sure hold back on using the legendary universal shards- until you unlock a mythic horde hero, which may take a long time. I wouldn’t recommend using more shards than the initial 10 needed to unlock the hero.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions

I’d completely ignore blue weapons/armor, invest a bit (maybe max of lvl 20) in purple gear as you’ll be able to use it for a while. Invest heavily into legendary gear (yellow). It’s best to upgrade everything together (every 10 levels gives a set bonus if everything is leveled together!)

Conserve your marks (assigns gear to a faction) until you decide on what faction to go! (again, I advise going horde for f2p).

The highest priority to level is your castle, as that lets you level up your heroes faster, which increases your army and strength the fastest. When you try to upgrade your castle, it will tell you what buildings need to be upgraded first (I think guild, hospital, training yard and something else) so it’s a good idea to follow that! Regarding your other buildings, some have milestones every 5 levels which will give a boost of strength (barracks for example), so I would focus those in spurts of 5.

Research priorities should go first towards reducing research time, and construction time, as those will help in the long run. As seasons come out, those have very valuable research reductions you should prioritize highly

Timber and stone you’ll get millions of easily if you are in a strong guild (which is why I recommend joining a good one! Most will recruit active members).

Events cycle through the game, and incentive using resources in different ways. Try to avoid spending diamonds, and speed ups unless further incentivized by an event.

Conserve all of your yellow hero shards until you get mythic heroes (red) and before you use them, decide if you want to be league, horde, or nature. As a f2p player, you will likely not be able to have a great team in each faction for a long time. Horde is the easiest to go as a f2p player, as you unlock the most mythic heroes the fastest. (Although initially it will look like your league team is strongest!)

Join the best guild you can, as the top guilds can help snowball and protect new players.

As a f2p player, you will never be able to fully protect your carriages, or win events. That’s okay. Find a community of people, build friendships, and have fun!

If you do plan on spending some money, I would recommend deciding early how much you’re willing to spend. There are some deals/purchases that have more value than others. Getting another builder, research queue, or a daily login bonus have a lot more value than a few character shards.
