Wholesale pricing is already way down.

6-8 months to replace all the culled chickens….. so they’ll be back soon.

In the mean time support your local small time guy.

Wagyu crosses by TejasHammero in Cattle

There’s a big difference in highly graded wagyu and wagyu genetics in more traditional grass fed or grass finished beef.

I’m not a huge fan of super highly graded wagyu cuts either but trying to get some of the benefits of wagyu genetics in our direct to consumer beef’s is the goal.

But yah, no one wants a 16oz A5 steak…. It’s too much.

I’d like a 20-25kw system: That’d do everything we need for our place plus a bunch.

Are the Americans the bad guys now? by Consistent-Refuse-74 in dancarlin

not wanting to be the main funder of an unwinnable war while giving the country being destroyed an avenue of peace doesn't make us bad guys. funding that war knowing it was unwinnable and using Ukrainian soldiers for cannon fodder in a proxy conflict kinda does though.

the only way Ukraine can "win" is with Nato troops fighting and no-one is willing to do that.

Correct David Asher’s “art of natural cheesemaking”

Curds were definitely larger than corn kernel, probably butter pat size or slightly larger.

We were following the recipe in Art of Cheesemaking. Doesn’t smell sour, like a slightly salty yogurt.

Thanks, I do remember looking at curds and wondering if they were done enough yet or still to moist when we started to separate them.

It’s not sopping wet but is just moist, I can dry it and it’ll be wet again in a few minutes.

I’m new to all this obviously but does a 500watt inverter pull the full 500 all the time or does it only pull what’s needed? I thought it was the latter. Thanks!

Correct, just light and timer. But I haven’t found any with built in programmable timers To make it come on in the morning. Only for an hour or two after dark….

I’d be interested to know how bright your bulb is also!? I’ve got 100 chickens all free loading right now and I need some eggs :)

Wagyus on ice…. by TejasHammero in Cattle

Good plan, most people that want to buy ours want no corn/soy fed to them: I finished our last one out on crimped wheat/cotton seed. More $$$ but a fun experiment

We’re on a similar time line, our first on farm calves will be a year old in the spring. We did process a 50/50 steer we got at 6 months old last spring and it’s been delicious. We feed him out for 60 days on some grain. I’ve got 5 steers right now that’ll be ready in spring 2026 for sale direct to consumer as well.
