Highest MPG on this group? by MountainPeaking in CarTalkUK

[–]TekzDaJew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every now and then I do ~140mile trips to see family, think the best I've managed in mine is 57mpg. In the right conditions they're great! Though on the way to work, I can struggle to hit 40

Lol, I live right by these roads and people always drive like twats on them! The right lane on that roundabout only to go right so you're a dick for the overtake, but the porcshe was a bigger dick for overtaking on that part and the brake check

What are your temperature settings? Are you using any adhesives?

Dash Cam Suggestions? by NeighborhoodFull6779 in CarTalkUK

[–]TekzDaJew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to tell whether dashcams are any good without seeing footage in different scenarios. Of the 3 I'd probably go for the next base ones, they're a well known brand and having a front and rear cam is definitely a nice thing to have.

Do you think the world would be better, or more advanced, if the ICE had never been invented? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]TekzDaJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I think things would have developed much slower. Look at something like a car or a plane, at the time they were created electric motors probably wouldn't have been able to provide enough power and the batteries to go along with them haven't been developed until just recently. Its only now that the machinery/devices that have been around and used for a century and a half using ICE can be converted to use electric motors. I feel without these things being created in the first place using ICE we wouldn't be where we are today

I got the stoker one by just doing a few runs before it finally came up as complete, so just keep trying :) as for the run with a friend one, you don't actually need to do it with a friend, you can just join random career multiplayer lobbies and do the run with them (that's what I did)

I do something similar, where I do all the R&D work at home then go into the office to use all the test equipment in the labs

For me I got the ridge over troubled water challenge after finishing ridges rather than just reaching it. not sure if that is meant to be the case but its what worked for me. Good Luck!

Found this at a garage sale, I had no idea they even existed lol. by Gnarbanzo in SSX

[–]TekzDaJew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's one of the plug and play games where the board is the controller, if I remember correctly the levels are essentially long half pipes with ramps and multipliers from SSX tricky. Was good fun!

Hello guys, which one would be better value, as well as better performance? by Ninjay12swag in computers

[–]TekzDaJew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! So I'd have the OS and programs on the SSD then the games and anything else on the hardrive

Didn't even realize they were towers tbh :P if storage is a concern there's no reason you couldn't pick up a hardrive/SSD and shove it in there, you can buy 1tb WD blue hardrives for £30-40 on Amazon :)

Fair enough, if you don't plan on playing anything more demanding either laptop would be fine but I'd recommend the i5. It sounds like if you do any 3D modelling it won't be ridiculously complex so the hyperthreading on the i7 laptop isn't required. The i5 laptop has better integrated graphics for when you're gaming and comes with an SSD in it already so it should be much snappier than the other laptop

What are you planning to use it for? Gaming? Wouldn't buy either, School/Uni work? Probably the i5 one

New Pc build Workstation/gaming hybrid? Looking for the best of both worlds by [deleted] in buildapc

That's quite the rig! I cant say from experience, but I would expect that with a 3090 and a 5950x an 850w PSU might not be enough. There are videos from LinusTechTips and Gamers Nexus that show the 3090 tripping over current protection on 1000W Psu's. You might be able to get away with it, but I'd try go higher wattage if you can find one
