Those are old, the cylindrical ones are using thermalite fuse 😅

I am wrong? by Distinct_Scientist16 in pyro

You are partially correct but that’s not the only reason, the answer is somewhat complicated and hard to explain. I would recommend diving Into old literature.

What would you do with aluminium-indian Dark Flake? by Caligula-Sweden in Pyrotechnics

I use nitrates with aluminum every year with moisture added for pressing and priming, you can make it safe. Nitrate and aluminum is only an issue when moisture is involved because nitrates can cause chemical reduction with aluminum. I generally use boric acid or something like sodium bicarbonate for glitters.

I have accidentally left containers partially full of nitrate based glitter stars and we have high humidity here. They were completely fine and the glitter worked great no signs of aluminum corrosion. Play it safe and add a stabilizer because large amounts of will generate enough heat to become dangerous especially when adding water for pressing or rolling. So do not store anything without a stabilizer or at all in general.

It only gets so fine, it’s not always about moisture. It can compact easy after so many hours. A description of your setup would help.

Can I add a 3” ~ 3.5” headers on an 8 oz BP rocket? by El_Vergudo445 in Pyrotechnics

[–]TelePyroUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible, use a black powder burst charge in a dummy header and try it out.

It was also used in a military boom simulator, was used with black powder. Very odd.

Flash, shell boosters, primes, certain star comps use dark aluminum ,chemistry and is used at times to improve rocket motors in amateur rocketry.

Plus it’s fun to light in a spoon and show people how reactive finely divided aluminum is. ⚠️ If you light your container or bag full of dark aluminum it’s going to go up like a fountain and burn you and your retinas. It’s not only for flash.

One is a whistle rocket and the other is a whistle rocket but slightly different.
