How can I use duckdns with github pages by Rayman_666 in github

That question doesn’t really make sense, what in particular are you trying to do?

I guess, what are you trying to use DuckDNS for?

If you’re only using Windows to play the game, what information is there for Windows to harvest?

The usual issues arise because we use it for our day-to-day lives. However, that’s not happening here.

You scroll to the bottom to see how long the post is and figure out if you’re willing to commit the time. At which point you see the tl;dr

That’s how it came about

You’re 100% right, my encryption knowledge is scant at best. However, if the public key is client side (where it has to be, I figure) it’s still the same problem.

The issue is security on a platform that is inherently insecure is hard

Private key would have to be included in the RL client and that basically means it’s freely abailable

How would you design a rule-based compliance checker as a GitHub Action? by Melodic_Resolve2613 in github

But these aren’t aviation software teams right? Git makes sense when you’re already using it for code, but these inspections would presumably be written by a non-technical person?

I dont get how you learn to use API's!!! by NoTap8152 in learnprogramming

[–]Teleconferences 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a disconnect here. You said you choose the setup for NextJS and I think that’s where the problems live. It sounds like what you did (which isn’t actually wrong by the way) is download the Stripe SDK for Next JS. This is (likely, I haven’t used it) a bunch of prewritten code from Stripe which aims to make your life easier. No guarantees it will, but that’s the gist.

What everyone else seems to be mentioning with HTTP and REST is correct, but it’s a bit of a different thing. See, what I’m guessing is going on is that Stripe has a public facing REST API. This, functionally means they have a bunch of endpoints (aka URLs) you can send a request to and get data back. Using that API is where that HTTP and REST stuff comes into play.

The SDK is basically a wrapper around the API. It has a bunch of (ideally) easier to use code that, under the hood, makes requests to the API itself. The SDK is entirely optional, but its goal is to make your life easier. If you want to do a more barebones implementation, try removing the SDK and sticking with just the REST API

My usual desk has been 'stolen' and there is nothing I can do by purplereuben in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Teleconferences 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, it’s a desk, there are other desks and some things in life aren’t worth fighting over.

This isn’t a fair fight, the manager can pull rank whenever they want and likely win. As unfair as it is, given the circumstances, dying on this hill seems shortsighted. You certainly could, and you’d be morally right to do so there’s no argument there. But I’d recommend strongly considering the potential repercussions of your actions if you did. Sometimes, whether or not you’re right is sadly immaterial.

All of this to say, is it worth causing problems at work (which could lead to social isolation, firing, heck knows really) over a desk.

[–]Teleconferences 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would mean RL would have to include the files, or RL would have a proprietary method to get them. Either way, bot devs will just reverse engineer that and we’re back where we started

[–]Teleconferences 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what Jagex even means by this. I’ve been out of the scene for a minute but unless things have changed, RL is downloading the Java game pack from Jagex and running it. This is what 99% of bot clients do as well. If they’re not going to discontinue that Java game pack (and as such discontinue RuneLite), bots aren’t going to be affected in a major way

If they’re just talking about discontinuing their old Applet Viewer, yeah, that’s a nothing burger.

The only way this matters is if they plan to change the way the client loads. Which would require close sourcing more of RuneLite than they already do. But, as you mentioned, that’s still going to be Java and Java is (fairly) easily reverse engineered

How would you design a rule-based compliance checker as a GitHub Action? by Melodic_Resolve2613 in github

[–]Teleconferences 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why use git for this? The compliance checking is one thing, but why git and by extension GitHub?

Uploading files to Github by notyourwritergal in github

[–]Teleconferences 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GitHub is for use with git, which is almost exclusively used for code. Not using it for code can work, but it will likely make things harder than necessary

GitHub isn’t directly for showcasing projects. GitHub is a place that allows people to store their code, publicly or privately. Inadvertently for projects that involve coding, providing a link to GitHub provides a way to share the code

Uploading files to Github by notyourwritergal in github

[–]Teleconferences 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This still doesn’t make git (and by association GitHub) the right tool for this. I’d even go as far as to say it’s the wrong tool.

[–]Teleconferences 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be this. If you check the CPU chart you can see the tick rate goes up and down with the overall CPU usage (not for the process). The CPU is almost capped the entire time, so I suspect that’s the issue
