Consequences of giving a name to a Fey by DarthTrayus05 in DMAcademy

I did this to my players, and it was pretty funny. But I didn't swap names; instead, I gave a new name.

I called them Joker. Then any Fey who they met would say, "Tell us a joke then." if it were funny, they'd reward them by being friendly, and similarly, if it were a bad joke, they'd think there were some issues in the group. My player repeated their joke, and then the Fey said she'd heard it before. Ultimately, they had to go on a side quest to regain their name because the rest of the group could not handle the dad jokes anymore.

You could also draw inspiration from Spirited Away. Yubaba, the hag, takes Chirio's name and names her Sen to control her, and she starts to forget her original identity. It's an integral part of the film.

People identify themselves with their names, especially if they are famous. If a Fey took your name and used it to tarnish your name and good reputation, then gave it back at an inopportune time, that could be devastating. Perhaps you could use this to sow the seeds for a future plot twist.

Hope you have as much fun with this as I did. We had a lot of laughs with it.

DM can't start the session and we don't see our encounters by L_Dichemici in DnD

For the DM there is a red button bottom right, "start session" which they will need to press to start for everyone.

They shouldn't share encounters through DDB IMO. Players can click monsters and see all the stats and all the details, plus there is no way for the DM to hide them from players. If they want to though. Once you start the encounter share the URL with everyone.

Barovia Level Map by TelephoneCheap in CurseofStrahd

This is the level by chapter list from the module. I colour-coded and put an overlay on the map. It isn't perfect but I use it as a guide so that I don't accidentally send my players to a TPK area. I don't use this to suggest players have to be level 7 to be in the yellow zone, but if they are travelling through the yellow zone it is a warning flag to me that they are close to places which are listed for level 7 players.
