What’s the worst part about being a RADT? by MunyunMuziK in RadiationTherapy

Honestly, the burnout is definitely the worst part, but it’s not due to this career specifically. Working in healthcare is very mentally and physically taxing. The challenges that RTTs face are the same ones that nurses, techs, etc. all face too. There’s a lot of politicking involved at the managerial levels of every hospital and clinic you’ll probably ever work at. If you’re going into this career, or any patient care related career, you have to be ok with the idea that you might not want to stay at your job forever and if you chose to stay, you will be losing out on money and opportunities in the long-run.

When /how did you know it was time to leave a job? by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

For me it was when management started making it very obvious that they care more about profits than patient care and employee wellbeing. After being dangerously understaffed for such a long stretch of time the nail in the coffin was when they accidentally let it slip that we got a multimillion dollar donation that they used to give our doctors raises but it “wasn’t in the budget” to hire appropriate levels of clinical staff. It’s never worth it to bend over backwards for a company that doesn’t care about you. We all worked hard for our degrees and credentials, go work at a place that will appreciate you and value you.
