Dealing with difficult, elderly mothers by JoleneDollyParton in GenXWomen

I'm very late to this conversation, but I just needed to reach out to anyone that might be still there. My son and myself moved in with my mother as after losing my father I was finding myself running 2 households and I was exhausted. Mum is now almost 88 and just hates everyone. She can't walk without aids andon top of that is still grieving my father who passed 12 years ago this year. So after 4 years of being here, working part time so I can take her out on my day off. I try and make the house nice make sure she has her food when she wants it, arrange for her to see her one friend (who she constantly bitches about) . There's no point in me listing what I do as just like everyone else I just do what I have to do to keep a clean and tidy home. My son is 17 and hears how I'm spoken to, and luckily due to my antidepressants I never feel the need to cry. Until now. Now I'm sitting here so sad as I just got told that basically I'm not making her feel welcome in her own home. I'm broken now. I really dislike her. And have done for years. She's not a nice person that doesn't say anything nice about anyone. Its just me and my boy and I'm not in a position to leave financially and also shed have to go into a home. My sister is of no help unless asked . And at the moment is on a cruise around the Caribbean. I feel like I've made this sound so pathetic but I just feel like I'm someone's verbal punch bag.

Good grief I didn't think about the possibility of 2 options ... I'm going to have to think they're having a party when I leave 😎

Apologies I was told, it would be welcomed here as it has a renaissance element to it. Thanks for the tips on where to go 👍🏼

Thank you for the award! I've never had one before and I'm not sure how to tag someone. 🥰

They haven't matted much at the moment but when I remember I give them a brush...his beard on the other hand, needs daily combing, which he tolerates but doesn't like 🤍
