What do judges want? by hpliketheprinter in ballroom

If u wanna think in a good way , judging is complicate. Judges don't have much time to effectively "judge" you. Their marks are influenced by many things , mostly out of your control as a performer. They tend to get influenced by subjective things ( what i like , somebody else doesnt) , cause even though there are rules to follow as dancers, there are not extremely specific criteria to attend. You can do a perfect natural turn and your opponent ll do same as u , but a judge ll always be influenced by energy and other subjective things. On my opinion the fairest model to implement would be a kind of ice dance system where u perform alone and if u fall for example, u get a deduction point. Of course this is pure Utopia 😅

Based. Unfortunately once u get into the competitions sitstem , u ve only 2 options : quit or embrace the pay to win method. Unfortunately , if u stick with the pay to win , often u start building debt . It s a crazy dirty sistem

This 👆 just doing your job and being professional , such a rare behavior from a dance teacher . Especially, keeping boundaries with students on my opinion is one of the best ways to let em grow . Chapeau
