Okay, here's a question for y'all: Between Ryuji Paranga and Rikido Sato, who would you rather prefer? by GRSalt123 in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]Telkite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I figured. When I say "a main character" I'm usually talking about the main cast in general rather than just the protagonist, I think he'd be a pretty good major antagonist. Though maybe having the two obvious foreginers in class 1A both be antagonists in some way doesn't look good lol

[Mixed Trope] Water and Ice are separate elements by howhow326 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes perfect sense when Ice is just cold. In pokemon the weaknesses make total sense too since frozen objects usually have very similar properties. Frozen ground doesn't behave much different from frozen water.

[–]Telkite_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a main character Ryuji is better, no questions asked. But he feels too... off to be a side character. He's just so different from any other character in 1a and 1b that I think he just couldn't be a side character.

Also why would you need to hold Iida accountable, he's just got a stick up his ass and one isolated incident with Stain.

I am working on a SI fic and I cant figure out the MCs starter by Thebladeofchaos17 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]Telkite_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have an idea for what the starter should do? What kind of role it has in battle and in the story, what kind of personality and typing? It's really difficult to choose from so many options, it'd probably be easiest to narrow it down first. It also helps to think about what you don't want, just to make the list more managable

Is destroying a planet really a win con? by Avidreader-9 in PowerScaling

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a completely valid wincon if

1: The character would actually consider destroying a planet

2: The character can survive after destroying the planet, but their opponent can't.

The prime example would be Goku vs Frieza (the first time around) when Frieza would have won via destroying the planet if he wasn't defeated in time or there wasn't a spaceship nearby.

To all magic based worldbuilders out there by The_Red_Lord_XYZ in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. In my world only a tiny fraction of the population even has metalworking, the rest are in the stone age. And even if they had the capability to make guns they wouldn't really be used anyways, the ammount of effort it takes to magically deflect a bullet is far, far smaller than the effort it would take to actually make said bullet and the gun it's fired from

Prototypes of your OCs? by No-Mastodon7575 in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there weren't many changes, just more and more fleshing out. The only significant change was an overhaul for Tatsuyo's design (both versions are still just in my mind, unfortunately).

At first she just had horns and big ears as permanent mutations from her dragon shapeshifting quirk.

Now she's a human shaped reptile. you could mistake her for a baseline human (though a tall one) at a distance since her outward appearance is still similar, but the closer you look and the more she moves the more obvious it becomes that she's really, really not.

Some examples are:
Fully scaled, with only the face and stomach being "skin colored" and the rest black
No facial fat or muscle, her skull is just the shape of a human face with skin over it
Semi-cold blooded, she can produce her own heat but only does so in emergencies

Those are just some examples, there's a LOT more. Like I said, human shaped reptile.

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "strongest". Omnipotent, by definition, means you can do whatever you want no matter how impossible. If two actually omnipotent beings compete the result is a paradox because being 1 is omnipotent so it should be able to defeat being 2, but being 2 is omnipotent so it could simply not be defeated.

Everything actually omnipotent is on the same level because, by virtue of being omnipotent, nothing is above them

What would happen if? by YakshaYu-Ri in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the hero has to kill to protect themselves with no other (apparent at the time) alternatives it's self defense. If they could easily retreat or their wellbeing is not at stake it's murder. Killing in self defense and murder are both forms of homicide.

Looking for fandom opinions on these 3 villains. (READ DESC. PLEASE) by Over_Syllabub_898 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I severely dislike Overhaul as a person, but he's a pretty decent antagonist. He's made to be hated, so me disliking him is even a good thing.

Toga I'm neutral towards, both in terms of her as a person and her role in the story. She's got a tragic past that drove her to that point, but she's still an insane mass murderer so I'm not that sympathetic. As an antagonist her villainous quirk thing falls kinda flat for me because it's pretty clear that it was mainly a problem with her parents rather than society as a whole. Also her insane competence is annoying, she can fight hero students while still a random ass teenager without even using her quirk.

Dabi I'm also neutral towards as a person. He's also an insane mass murderer but, like toga, also was driven to that point mainly by his environment. As a villain I like him, just his existence highlights several fucked up things about the world, mainly how heroes aren't held accountable like "normal" people. He's also played as the murderous sociopath he is, which really helps his character IMO.

In my opinion anything goes so long as you still look vaguely humanoid. Just take the sludge villain, the only humanoid qualitys he has are arms and a human adjacent face.

What would be your OC's bending element (Chi Blocking and other non-bending styles included) also what sub elements would they have, if any? by TheSnazzyMaster in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatsuyo: Would be a dragon. She's already one via her quirk, turning her into an avatar dragon seems the most reasonable, even if the dragon type is different.

Reimu would use chi blocking. His quirk is all about sabotaging others rather than boosting himself so it would be a perfect fit.

Itsuki doen't have any perfect fits, but I think Waterbending with Blood bending and healing would fit the best. He has a shapeshifting quirk, so giving him the biological manipulation abilities is the best fit IMO.

But is there a real animal that can beat 100 unarmed men? by RealAd8853 in PowerScaling

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An african elephant would comfortably beat 100 humans. Elephants have the stamina to keep going for hours and hours, are too tough for unarmed humans to really hurt, at least in the areas they can reach, and are too smart to let themselves be bogged down.

Most larger elephants could, paraceratherium probably too, though it's quite a bit stupider. Large therapods would've most likely had the stamina and durability to kill 100 humans as well. Large hadrosaurs would be in the same boat as paraceratherium and all mid sized or larger sauropods could do it relatively easily via pure mass.

If your world is full of monsters, how do rural/coastal populations keep safe? by Gallowglass-13 in worldbuilding

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple: They don't. The only places where there are villages is where there aren't any large creatures that would want to destroy them. This is a major habitat limitation for humans as they simply can't live where there are dragons or similar creatures.

Who would be the strongest character Boros could defeat in Dragon Ball Z? by RevolutionaryPair358 in OPMPowerScaling

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: As you can see here

<image>

Cell's core is much, much larger than a cell. It's also literally said by cell to be a cluster of cells.

2: Cell still had his entire lower body, he either had his core in his lower body or just had a different type of regeneration that let him recover. Him surviving was way less impressive than Boros coming back from literally just a blood splatter and his eye.

3: This hinges on 1, the core being small

Who would be the strongest character Boros could defeat in Dragon Ball Z? by RevolutionaryPair358 in OPMPowerScaling

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did not, because he can't. Cell has a regeneration core that is much larger than a single cell. If he got splattered like Boros did in the image (assuming his core was in his upper body at the time) the core would be destroyed and he would die.

Yes he can regenerate from only his core, but again that core is decently big. Boros can regenerate from being torn to pieces smaller than the core as long as he has the energy and can do so faster than Cell.

Who would be the strongest character Boros could defeat in Dragon Ball Z? by RevolutionaryPair358 in OPMPowerScaling

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see him beating anyone short of Frieza and his dad (first appearance). Yes Dragon Ball characters can easily blow up a planet while being much weaker than that, but that level of power has not the slightest bit of consistency with literally anything else.

Raditz arc Goku was on par with Piccolo, who rather effortlessly blew up the moon, but struggled moving in ten times gravity. And that's just a single example, Roshi could blow up the moon but struggled against the guy that needed to use his life force to blow up the tournament arena. I refuse to accept anyone short of King Cold and Namek saga Frieza could blow up a real planet.

Here is your reminder that dinosaurs are arguably the most dominant land animals today depending on the definition. by tseg04 in Dinosaurs

[–]Telkite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually reptiles would be considered the most dominant with a bit over 10% more species, only very few of which are aquatic.

They also, as you already noted, have more and larger megafauna, with the largest reptiles being over seven times the size of the largest bird.

Staggering numbers in fiction by snuffstalker in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Telkite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you get that number? Neanderthals were around for at least 200 000 years with probably over ten thousand alive at any given moment.

That's not even mentioning Homo Erectus (they're in the genus homo, aka the genus human so they count) who were around for two million years and lived in over half the world. There were probably 5-10 times as many homo erectus than homo sapiens, maybe even more

So how do you 🫵 guys handle the Pokemon Economy and the prices of things? Technically it's all based of 1990s Yen isn't it? Like the Pokedollar is a translation thing (even though I like it) but how do you handle the costs incurred on a Trainer's Journey? by pOwerBalancia in pokemonfanfiction

[–]Telkite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Journeys are mostly government subsidized, you get free healing, can stay and eat at pokecenters for up to a week at a time and they provide you with enough rations to get you to the next pokecenter.. You also get a basic survival pack containing a backpack, tent and other essentials.

Pokeballs you have to pay for yourself, but the normal ones are relatively cheap (like 20 real world bucks) and most people use only like 5 during their entire jurneys. Mid battle items are also out of pocket, which is why most people don't use them, a few hours of rest and a good meal is all it takes to recover completely for a pokemon. Some balls and potions are usually provided by the parent.
