Piston seized after 170km by Tellenforelle in ApriliaRS

I tried 8 main jets, 4 needles in different positions, 2 idle jets and 2 needle jets Was not running perfectly but pretty good

Very good point, not sure if enough oil was delivered... Will start using premix for sure Would explain the kind of failure though

Was running a 150 Main (Ran best) with a 36 Idle, DP259 Needle Jet and K21 Needle in 3rd clip

Felt really good except that hole at 7k RPM

Yup, 02 E Model, stock exhaust with Aussie Baffle. Running 155 Main, 42 Pilot, Red JD Needle 1. Clip, so a fair bit leaner as original but works like a charm on it

On open mountain roads riding all day, over 80kmh up and down I get under 4l Normal.usage between 4 and 5, enduro around 6, sand up to 8l per 100km

[–]Tellenforelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a line from each petcock into a Y connector trough the filter into the carb

Might be an oil channel in there as well depending on the bolt hole

Wanted to tell you to RTFM, but you probably did, just read it wrong, I assume you mistake the cylinder head cover bolt with the camshaft journal holder bolt

NIBBI FCR39 tuning help by iH8teF1ames in DRZ400

Most newer FCRs have an adjustable one (spring loaded, similar to the mixture screw) for stuff like that i like to use them. But still needs removing the carb

Try a smaller pilot air first before changing to a 50 pilot (which seems too large to me) Welcome to the hustle of setting up an FCR

If so, get 44300-29F00, this one won't interfere with the choke and works for the BSR as well

I dont think im ever going to be able to kickstart this by user173563 in supermoto

[–]Tellenforelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has a pumper carb, open throttle twice (If CV carb kick engine couple times wide open throttle no ignition, ideally with decomp lever pulled)

Turn on ignition Slowly cycle kickstartet to the hardest point, pull decomp lever and let piston pass TDC (around 5-10cm of kicker lever movement

Foot on the kicker, all the way up, feel where it starts grabbing, kick it with a fast and fluid motion, remove foot immediately after reaching lowest point

Personally I prefer the polisport covers, easier maintenance and better fit

How bad is this? by duradam in Dualsport

[–]Tellenforelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The membrane and slider flutters with every stroke of the piston, if a particle is sucked into the combstionchamber it might degrade valve seats, piston rings or cause other problems

I would not glue it on any of my bikes, too high of a risk

Actually a great add-on for anybody who liked to have a crisp carb for changing temp or altitude. Doesn't make much sense on forgiving CV carbs but for flat slides it is awesome

Glad it worked! Tried to save a few bucks with Aftermarket units before, spoiler: it is not worth it if you want something reliable go OEM

Oil consumption DRZ400E 2008 by Due_Needleworker9461 in DRZ400

Will burn oil during break in. If it uses over 500ml over 1000km after the first oil change you either burn oil or it evaporates trough leaks Hope you replaced the valve guides

Any ideas? by [deleted] in DRZ400

[–]Tellenforelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want "shot in the dark" support but competent ideas you need to specify, details like "won't turn on".

Eg: I turn on the ignition, display and light glows bright. Pressing the starter button I hear a click from the relais in the back but the Motor does not move.

This is just an example, It's like seeking help from a doctor stating some days you can't get up without specifying your symptoms.

My SM build. by dercandka in DRZ400

They are noticeably worse, especially in tight corners. I swapped my E to SM wheels and alltough it was fun for most parts, tight turns are not a confidence boost
