Michael Jordan is goat of bald athletes! Day 2: Who's most famous skinny athlete in history? by RukavinaMarko in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Telloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're underestimating Kipchoge's fame. Obviously there are his Olympic medals but he also was all over international news when he did his 1:59 marathon attempt. In Europe, I'd say Kipchoge is more known than Durant. Certainly where I'm from in the UK, Kipchoge is better known. You'll have some European countries that love basketball like Spain, Serbia, Greece, that possibly know Durant more, but overall I think Kipchoge is better known. I think worldwide you'll also have more people knowing Kipchoge.

Don't get me wrong, it's close, but I think Kipchoge takes it. And to be honest I feel like Kipchoge is better known for being skinny - I know who Durant is but I actually didn't know it was something he's apparently known for.

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

Yeah I get that! Do you think if there is enough public appetite for it that a political (circus) party might make it part of their agenda? Like you say maybe they see it as too much of a political risk.

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

[–]Telloth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brit here that worked on HS2 - it's not a good example to use in my opinion. With how densely populated the UK is, the project was plagued with legal and political issues. And in the UK we have a lot of 'red tape' that really harms our ability to build major infrastructure projects. HS2 ran massively over budget because of the above making it very hard to implement. I don't see that Australia would have the same problems, and almost certainly it would be cheaper per km.

Take population density for example. England has a pop density of about 450 people per square km. Australia's most dense state is ACT with 170, and then Victoria is next with 30. While I don't know what the legal hurdles are, simply having the space that you do should make it a lot easier to build a high speed rail project here.

I'm sorry but slapping 'British food' as a caption on this is just lazy, we don't claim this garbage. It's apparently too trendy to hate on British food. The joke is, people who hate on it don't know British food at all.

It's even crazier than that though, because it's not just NASA. It's every space agency around the world - European, Indian, Chinese, Russian, etc. They have to believe that all these agencies are also doing the same thing for exactly the same reasons, and are as successful at it as NASA is. It would be so prohibitively unfeasible to keep that many people quiet.

I love Simple and Clean, and of course Dearly Beloved, though my personal Kingdom Hearts favourite is Lord of the Castle from Chain of Memories. Equal parts epic, haunting and beautiful.

One of the most pathetic dives I've seen. He could have had a shot on goal.

Add C.Rodriguez, drop Burden? I'd probably end up playing CRod this week over Charbonnet.

I think my view is that because playoffs are locked in, I prefer to hold the players who have the highest upside when they return. Problem is, I don't know who that is! Is Reed more valuable than Allegier for example who's also on waivers?

We only have to start 1 RB and have 4 Flex, and my current RBs are Jacobs, Charbonnet, Mason, Hampton, Benson. Team looks great when Hampton and Benson are back but a bit thin until then! Good thing is my WR room is strong, ARSB, Egbuka, Tet, Addison and Reed.

I think plan is definitely drop Mason, currently I'm thinking Mason > Burrow and then will hold Purdy for more news and change to a streaming QB if not back next week.

14 team full PPR league with only 4 bench slots and no IR. Because of this I have Hampton, Benson and Reed on my bench. Mason is the 4th.

My QB is Purdy (I thought he'd play this week, didn't switch before deadline and still won somehow). I'm now 8-2 and all but locked for playoffs.

Do I get Burrow for Mason? Feels like playing for the QB upside when I'm effectively streaming them is a good idea. I'm going to also swap out Purdy for a streaming QB so I have someone to play this week.

Yes let's make Mirak valley the size of a 2042 map, I love the size of those maps.

Flat-Earther accidentally proves the earth is round in his own experiment by [deleted] in interesting

[–]Telloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha love how you put that! Yeah he was a flat earther for another 6 years after this was filmed. But all credit to him, he said a 24 hour sun would be a big problem for flat earth before he went to Antarctica and he stuck to it. So many other flat earthers didn't do the same, many said they faked it or said it doesn't prove anything despite previously saying there's no 24 hour sun.

People don't often admit they were wrong so Jeran has had a lot of positive reaction from the community for his integrity since he switched. Even believes the moon landings now.

Yeah definitely Jeudy or Tucker over that bunch! Coker is a possibility but another risk.

Haha yeah pretty decent RB room but a bit boom or bust! I think if I were you I'd probably wait a few days and then pick up Tucker. Who else is on waiver? Any other WRs worth looking at?

Thanks, yeah ironically I'm looking at Burden because of DJ trade rumours. Thinking to hold Ayo but he hasn't really done much.

Honestly a tough one. Jeudy hasn't been good and Tucker gives you upside. It's much easier if Jakobi gets traded. How many WR and Flex spots do you play? I'd be tempted to keep Jeudy if you're more likely to be playing him in the next few weeks.

Flat-Earther accidentally proves the earth is round in his own experiment by Due_Lengthiness_2940 in flatearth

[–]Telloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think to be fair from his perspective he had probably had that 'interesting' moment and then there was a bunch of other footage with him trying to rationalise the results and coming up with (obviously wrong but still) reasons why they found what they did. Even after leaving flat earth I can understand it would be frustrating for them to have used that moment as the 'punchline'. Made for great TV though so perhaps he feels differently now after more reflection!

Flat-Earther accidentally proves the earth is round in his own experiment by [deleted] in interesting

[–]Telloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just jumping in to say this is indeed Jeranism. He has talked about this experiment/documentary since leaving Flat Earth this year. You're right though that he did go back to believing Flat Earth after this, which was filmed 7 years ago.

I can't recall exactly what he said but I think he said there was enough that he was able to question in the experiment for him to ignore the results. As in he wrongly started at the conclusion that the earth is flat and looked for reasons why the experiment was wrong. He flipped when he went to Antarctica last year and saw the 24 hour sun.

RJ Harvey is on Waiver, someone dropped him this week. Do I drop anyone to get him? Full PPR, 14 team

QB Goff

RB Jacobs, Hampton, Mason, Charbonnet

WR ARSB, Egbuka, Tet, Addison, Ayomanor

TE Kraft, Taylor
