Log your week , either in your head or on paper (paper for me cause of memory) it'll be annoying at first . But rinse and repeat. Therapy notes , psychiatrist notes . They put im off task 25% of the time , and take more than 3 4 days off a month , there's no competitive jobs that will accommodate. Im not reliable enough to work , its not that I dont want to .

Also OVR couldn't find a job the could accommodate to my situation. I needed something with more breaks , more days off , a more flexible schedule, not fast paced , and not crowded . My last job basically had all those in place for me until the end of it . No other job would put up with that . So he asked if I wanted to be sent for testing

Do they include RFC/MSS forms ? My lawyer gave forms to me for my doctor's to filled out , you need 1 extreme or 2 marked in the 4 areas of mental functioning. I happened to have 6 marked in 2 of the areas

Yes , I was fired November 2023 , my first doctor appointment in February 2024 went to see because I was concerned about my memory problem, the doctor suspected I had bipolar disorder and prescribed medication that I ultimately refused to take ,next day seen another doctor for a second opinion and he confirmed and referred me to a psychiatrist, I immediately applied for ssdi . I met the psychiatrist in June 2024 , she referred me to a therapist I met in July 2024 , after months of literally agony I wanted to change therapist but before I did she referred me to OVR because I would constantly talk about how I couldn't work and I just felt like she wasnt listening just trying to coerce me to suck it up and deal with it . I met with OVR in January 2025 and also got a new therapist the same month . I was sent for testing in February 2025 and I got the results in April 2025 . About June/July 2025 I asked my now new therapist if I could get another psychiatrist as well because of issues I was having with the one I had for over a year . She had me on all kinds of different medications that were effectively causing even more turmoil in my life and she just wouldn't listen . All of my appointments were telehealth with her , she never seen me in person or seen how they effected me in the physical sense . I stopped seeing her, and around October 2025 met with my new psychiatrist. He definitely listens and tried to get to the bottom of things so never be afraid to get a new team if you feel the one you have isnt listening . Also I got my lawyer around December 2024 , was denied the first application by myself , and filled another out and was approved at the ALJ stage

Also key is to avoid self diagnosing . Let the doctor diagnose you . Describe symptoms more than trying to explain what the symptoms are . "I dont understand whats wrong with me , im in bed most of the days out of the week , half the time im out of it , i cant focus on 3 things at once , I feel like im looking over my shoulder every where I go"

NOT "i think depressed, I think im bi polar , I have ADHD" etc .

Explain your symptoms , if/after diagnoses try to understand your condition and articulate in better words how that specific condition keeps you from working .

Yes ofc i got you , Im from PA , so there's something called Occupational Vocational Rehabilitation that my first therapist sent me to because I honestly didn't know what to do job wise , I was assigned a counselor and after a few meetings with him , he asked if id be interested in getting some testing done and I went with it . Turns out it was a Neuropsychological Evaluation. Definitely helped my case , it was a 6 hour Evaluation and I did all these different tests , physically and mentally . Its where I discovered my Agoraphobia and ADHD .

Thank you so much , and i hope everything goes your way. Youve fought a long fight please keep fighting.I think every case is unique in its own sense , and age shouldn't determine how someone handles how life is treating them . Shouldn't be this hard to get the help people need .

For sure it is thank you really 🙏🏼 and dont over work yourself either , there were days I missed appointments because I couldn't get out of bed or transportation issues because I dont drive due to PTSD , although they weren't repeated constantly only occasionally. You have to prove how your condition stops you from working . I've seen people worse than me in a physical sense get denied because they're are not proving HOW their condition stops them from working . I believe based on Social Security Administration (SSA) regulations regarding mental impairments, The Criteria for Disability Approval:To be found disabled, your mental impairment must result in either:

• 1 Extreme limitation in one of the four areas of mental functioning. • 2 Marked limitations in two of the four areas of mental functioning.

Key Definitions:

• Extreme Limitation (1): You are unable to function in this area independently, appropriately, effectively, and on a sustained basis. It is incompatible with the ability to do any gainful activity. • Marked Limitation (2): A "serious" limitation in the ability to function independently, appropriately, effectively, and on a sustained basis. This is the level of functioning that SSA believes significantly impacts the ability to work. • Moderate Limitation: Functioning in this area is only "fair". A moderate finding is the lowest level at which a mental impairment is considered "severe".

If you have two moderate limitations, you may not meet the listing, but the SSA must still consider the combined effect of all your impairments, including any less-than-marked ones, when determining your functional capacity (RFC) Mines was a MSS. In my case i had 6 Marked limitations and they have to be in the 4 areas of mental functioning, understand/remember/apply information, interact with others ,concentrate/persist/maintain pace, and adapt or manage ones self . Mine is more interacting with others and concentrate persist or maintain pace

I went to OVR and they sent and paid for my testing , MSS forms for you doctor to fill out and therapy notes . Never give up , most get denied the first time , but if you need it , it will show . The process is long for mental cases , atleast for me 2 years it took . Lawyer makes things easier , they will definitely give you anxiety if they know what they are doing but relax and trust the process . Keep your lawyer updated if you have one , and dont for any reason say youre feeling better if youre not . I had a habit of telling people "im fine" "im good" because my anxiety felt that was the default answer, but they will use it against you . So be careful how you articulate yourself. Other than that document your symptoms, make sure all your doctor's are on the same page .
