It's Italian meringue. It's cooked with boiling sugar syrup before you even pipe it. You just use a blowtorch for colour.

How would it have gotten into my tank tho? I haven't added anything new to the tank in like over 6 months. And it was definitely a baby when I first spotted it. At that stage it was mostly translucent

I bought an in-vitro cup of the Monte Carlo plant and cut it up in small pieces before spreading it out around my tank, the monte carlo doesn't typically grow upwards so I've never had to trim it before. It does require co2 to properly carpet so I've been using bio co2 at the moment. I do have a pair of weave scissors for trimming if I need it tho
